I wouldn't risk it. If you're moving there to work, you'll be stressed with getting all of your stuff to Moscow/Beijing in the first place...do you want to worry about your wedding dress too?
I don't trust mailing it either. Postal services are not doing too well right now. Even to and from the UK, things that are supposed to take a week to arrive take a month.
In addition, who would take your photos? A professional in Beijing/Moscow? Or your FI? You'll have to check what the restrictions are on wedding photography at those locations.
I would love to see photos at those locations, but I think there are too many unknowns to worry about to make it a reality.
HTH!
it all depends on how easy it is to transport your dress - it might be challenging to get it packed properly and UPS/Fedex/DHL'ed (plus $$!). you could also bring it back in your luggage when you come back stateside for your wedding.
how about e-shots instead in the city? that could be a nice touch and you could display those shots at the wedding reception? do you know professional photographers in those cities or people who could refer? it might be hard to find someone if you're relocating to a brand new city.
I agree blightygirl, I think mailing the dress is out. It makes my tummy hurt to think of it getting lost in the mail!
My cousin is a pro-photographer and was planning on coming out to visit us next summer and do the photo shoot then along with getting some work done to expand her portfolio (win win huh?)
So we have the photographer its just a question of the dress. I really like the idea of an e-shoot because I want some photos to display of our new lives in a new city at the reception.
Maybe I'll just put off the bridal photos until after the wedding, so I still can have them done but without worrying about getting my dress back stateside in time for the wedding....
Yeah after the wedding you can do a trash the dress session if you're into that. That's very unique and special!
I can just picture your veil flying while you're on the Great Wall. Prettttty!

I need some advice please! My FI and I will be relocating to either Moscow, Russia or Bejing, China in the next few months for work. Our wedding will take place in our home town in Louisiana next December and I'm not sure how to arrange for my bridal photo shoot.
I would love to have my photos taken once we move either in Red Square or on The Great Wall but should I take the risk of transporting my dress back stateside just a few days before the wedding? Or try mailing it a few weeks before? Or is this just too much of a risk, and I should do my bridal shoot in Louisiana before we move?
