Pearl's is great! My dress is through them and I've had nothing but great experiences so far. Do not go on a Saturday though...that is bridal hell! :) I recommend LaShon or Ruth to help you find the dress. :) And yes, Pearl's has free alterations :)
I went to Pearl's, Wedding Belles and Town & Country. I bought my dress at Wedding Belles and had a wonderful experience there. I highly recommend Wedding Belles. Like you, I went with my mom (and sister) and wanted a quiet, relaxing and special experience, and that's excactly what I got. The dresses at Wedding Belles are beautiful, and the women that own the store are very nice and accommodating. Plus, they do free alterations if you purchase the gown there. I was really overwhelmed by Pearl's but still had a good experience. It was my first stop, and it was so crowded, but the lady that helped me was great. And of course, they have a huge selection of dresses. However, it was not a quiet, relaxing experience at all. I was not impressed with Town & Country. They also have a large selection of dresses, but the shop was dirty, and the sales girl wasn't very helpful. It was okay, but not great. I think I was so disappointed in Town & Country because of my great experience at Wedding Belles. Wedding Belles is uptown on Magazine at the corner of Antonine. Sorry for the long post!
I also had a great experience at Wedding Belles. Oh, and if you go to Pearl's Place, go early and not on a Saturday. I wound up getting my dress there.
I ended up going to Pearl's Place. Found my dress the frist visit. It is beautiful and I can't wait to wear it. The sales ladies really made me feel like a queen! Went around calling everyone to come look at the dress on me. I had a great experience.

I bought my dress at Pearl's - if you go there, I'd recommend (1) don't go on Saturday; (2) don't go on a Tuesday; and (3) ask for Lisa - who happens to be off on Tuesdays, which is why I put in tip #2. She's the one who helped me find my dress, and she was amazing. I told her a very general idea of what I thought I wanted, and she just started bringing dresses to me.
They include alterations, but if i had it to do all over again, I don't know if I'd have them do my alterations... On one hand, you can't argue with free, but on the other, I kinda felt like "that side" of the shop wasn't as vested in my happiness as the other (sales) side. It was almost like once they had my money, it wasn't so important. They weren't rude to me (one of my bridesmaids did have a very rude person one day, but whatever) -- it was more just that they weren't as nice & friendly as Lisa. So it got to the point that she was the only person I talked to at the shop.
Lisa is also my sales associate at Pearl's Place and I just love my dress and so does everyone else in the store. But I did decide to deal directly with Alfred Angelo in Baton Rouge for my bridesmaids dress luv them too.
Wouldn't refer Linda Lee had bad experience there for a wedding I was in staff is very rude and not helping.
Goodluck!!!
1 more thing Towne and Country have beautiful gowns, but they are very expensive. Went there to try on my first pick loved it it was gorgeous just too much and they don't work with you on prices lick Pearl's Pla
I went to Bustles and Bows which is 1 block from Pearls place on Severn and had a wonderful experience. They had a sample sale and I got a 1,000 dress for 500 with veil.
Pearls place is crowded but they have a beautiful selection of gowns and free alterations. My best friend found her dress there and an older lady Ruth is really great.
Davids Bridal is horrible...I got my bridesmaid dress there and I had a bad expereince when looking for my dress.
Good luck and have fun

Hello All,
I am coming down to New Orleans to select my venue and possibly look at dresses with my Mom. Any reccomendations on place to go? I have gotten many a prom gown from Pearl's Place in Metaire, but not sure how their bridal experiecnce is. As I remember it was always crowded and busy. I really want the selection of my bridal gown to be special and calm time to spend with my mother. Also, does anyone know of birdal shops that have free alterations. Again, I think Pearls used to do it.
My friend reccomended Town and Country. Any thoughts?!
Alicia
