i think you wait until someone offers.  there’s no rule that says you have to have a shower, but if it is offered, wonderful!

@angelica3025: hm i’m a bit confused….so you are planning the shower with some help from your bms in the hope that one of the moms will step up?  this seems dangerous to me…

There really isn’t much you personally can do.  Either one of them decides to take charge and plan it or they don’t.  You can’t really ask them to throw you a party.

For my wedding, my cousin threw my bridal shower (with the help of my aunt) and my MOH (aka my sister) planned my bachelorette party.

All times that I was a BM, we planned both the bridal shower and the bachelorette party. However, it seems as if your BMs aren’t willing to take on the responsibility (which it totally fine). If you really want one, my advice would just be to plan and finance it yourself. That way, you aren’t counting on help that may not come through and others don’t feel obligated to chip in. If you start planning hoping that one of the mother’s will step in, you may be setting yourself up.

@angelica3025: that’s a pickle.  i’d have your mom reach out to your FMIL and explain what she’s willing to do, etc.
