Some people have both on the same day, but what I’ve typically seen is bridal shower about 2-3 months our and bachelorette party about 2-3 weeks out.

@asianbarbie:  Both parties have to happen at some point, so I don’t think it’s a big deal.

I dont think it matters. Is there even etiquette on a bachelorette party? LOL

However, most people I know had their shower first and the bachelorette as it got closer to the wedding date (myself included).

Most of my bridesmaids are from out of town, so the plan right now is to do the bachelorette party on the Thursday before the wedding (with the rehearsal on Friday, and wedding on Saturday).  That way they won’t feel obligated to fly acroos the country for multiple visits.

I’m not planning on having a shower right now, as I don’t want people to feel obligated to give MORE gifts, so I don’t really know what the timing would be like.

I think typically the bridal shower is further out and then the bachelorette is closer to the actual wedding (meant to be your last night out as a ‘single’ woman)… but that being said, I didn’t have a bachelorette, and my shower was the day before my wedding just due to when people were in town lol so there’s no hard and fast rule.
