Hey Bees, I am hoping you can help my MOH out. She is currently planning my bridal shower but does not know what kind of food to serve. She has never been to a shower and neither have I. The theme is elegant love. She is going to have a dessert table with cupcakes, cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries. But thats all shes got so far. LOL. She was originally thinking salad, spaghetti, and garlic bread but salad gets messy and I am serving italian at the wedding so she doesnt want to clash. Can you tell me some ideas of bridal shower food?

I’m doing a Paris-themed bridal shower for my friend, but we’re basically doing sandwiches on croissant rolls, yogurt and fruit in shot glasses (according to a bunch of Google searches, layered food in clear glasses are popular in France right now), and cupcakes. We’ll also have a bunch of cheese and crackers, since the bride loves cheese and it fits with the theme :).
Usually people go for finger food or food that you can eat while balancing a plate on your lap. Italian sounds a little too messy. Hope that helps!

you can order sandwich platters from the supermarket or deli and just arrange them on nice serving platters (instead of the ugly plastic it comes in). and if you have a good cook in the family ask them to make a few side dishes (for example: pasta salad, macaroni salad, or spinach/artichoke dip). i love the idea of a dessert table!

For my bridal shower we had little sandwiches, pasta salad, regular salad, corn casserole and biscuits.

Mine was a brunch – we had mimosas, coffee, make-your-own parfaits (with berries, cut fruit, yogurt, granola, nuts, honey, etc.), bagels with assorted cream cheeses, pastries, quiche, cheese platter, etc.

Also, as much as I love Italian, I agree with jo.lee that spaghetti sounds too cumbersome for a bridal shower. Unless you’re having a sit-down lunch (which I’ve never done at a bridal shower), people will be up mingling, balancing plates on laps, etc. So you need finger foods or foods that can be eaten with just a fork.

I think we are doing a bunch of salads–curried chicken salad, macaroni salad, a green salad or two… and lots of cupcakes of course 🙂

Finger food is great, especially since youre having a lot of heavy sweets 🙂
Roll ups/sandwiches, salads, maybe some fruit salad.
