Miss Squid:  I don’t know if there is an etiquette rule, but we waited until after the wedding. I felt weird using them before we were married, so we just kept them in boxes until after we got home from our minimoon! I came home one day like two weeks before our wedding and Mr. MC had started unpacking one of the pans and I made him tape the packaging back together lol.

I also know people who used the gifts before their wedding and I thought it was fine. I wouldn’t mind if someone did it with a gift I gave them. But I thought waiting to use the new stuff made it special 🙂

Miss Squid:  We didn’t start using ours till we were married, BUT we also didn’t live together until we were married, so that made it much easier to just keep the gifts in boxes! I think you can do whatever you want! I don’t blame you for itching to open them up and use them!

We are waiting to use ours even though I’d love to use some of them now! I did actually put up a few decorative pieces we got that are fall based. We wouldn’t get to use that stuff until next year if we waited until after the wedding because it’ll be into the Christmas season by the time we get back from the honeymoon.

We used some of the stuff right away. Like our hand mixer, kuerig, and silverware. We didn’t use stuff like towels or pyrex dishes because we knew we would be getting a lot of that stuff and we would end up return some of it.

We used things right away. I wanted to ensure everything worked properly. If I’d waited till after the wedding we wouldn’t have been able to return something if it was defective. There were things like dishes we didn’t use, but did unpack them.

Miss Squid:  Mmm the Keurig. I really don’t blame you on that one!

Good question… This is something that I have never considered. I would think it’s fine to use right away, but I’m not sure if there is some etiquette rule about this or not.

Miss Squid:  Haha he was SO EXCITED to open it after the wedding and make me dinner, so I think it was worth it 😉 But if it had been a Keurig I would’ve wanted to use it right away too!!

Miss Squid:  We’ve used our toaster and our griddle.  Both of ours broke months ago and I refused to buy new ones as we registered for them and they were perfectly good shower gifts.  I didn’t want to take the option away from someone!

Both are awesome.  I was the bride that REALLY wanted a toaster!

The rest we’ve packed away to use after we move (still a couple months before the wedding).

Not sure on the etiquette but we used stuff right away. We don’t have enough storage space to leave everything in boxes. 🙂

Miss Squid:  We unpacked and started using everything right away! I don’t know about etiquette but one pro of using everything right away was being able to say how much we love using it/what we usei it for in the thank yous 🙂

We haven’t used anything yet but I wouldn’t be against using it. I mean.. that’s what it’s for, right?

Miss Squid:  I think etiquette wise you’re fine! If it were a wedding gift send by someone in the mail (and not a bridal shower gift) then maybe I would think twice about it. But from a shower? I think you’re good to go!
