I’m having a ‘friend’ shower 6 weeks before the wedding.
My family is wanting to throw a ‘family’ shower and wants me to pick the date.
At first, they wanted to do it the weekend before the wedding (to include one cousin that’s coming in from out of the country) – but I thought it would be a bit of wedding overload to do it then. Plus, I’m going out with friends that night for a ‘bachelorette’ type night – so it would have made for a full day.
So, then I was thinking about doing it 5 weeks before the wedding (the weekend after the other shower) – but then I was thinking maybe I’d need that time to do last minute wedding stuff.
Clearly, I’m over-thinking this – but wanted any advice on what you thought worked well – from a timing perspective.

I think it depends on your guests too. Would it be a burden to travel twice in as many weeks for them?

Mine was in May for an Aug wedding. My FI’s aunts hosted it so I traveled to Chicaog for it. This was great b/c I wasn’t in the heat of having things to do but it sort of kicked off my wedding crunch time. I was able to get Thank you’s out within a week and it was nice to see his family and friends who I hadn’t seen since Sept.
Do what is comfortable for your timing. I’m personally glad mine was on the earlier side so I can get more projects done on weekends now!

@Mermaid1082 – that’s a good point. Most are local, but a few are about a 30 minute drive – with another being over an hour.
@something.blue – that’s just it – it’s hard to anticipate what projects will still need to be worked on. I’m hoping that the closer we get to the wedding the less that will need to be done – but who knows? There’s probably always something to do!!

Mine’s the day before my wedding! So excited – it means more people can be there (since they wouldn’t have been able to travel twice and will now already be in town for the wedding)!
