No I don't think it's tacky at all. All you need is the people you love the most around and everything should be fine.
Not at all. I am throwing one in a retirement home. They have a building off site for their events and it is beautiful. SO cheap too!
I ended up having mine and at a clubhouse at an apartment complex. If you know someone that lives in a really nice apartment complex, you can have them check into it for you. Mine was $200 and I had it all day.
@creativeone710: I don't think anything is tacky if it's done nicely. If you're on a budget, I would look at local universities and see if they have any facilities. My university has a salon as well as an on-site restaurant located in our orange grove. People have had weddings there, too. And these places tend to be quite cheap, too. Another local university also has a beautiful Japanese garden where I might have my bridal shower. Always god to look into!
I definitely thinka church dining hall would be fine. Like previously mentioned, looking at local universities is also nice. I've been to nice showers at people houses/outside which could be an option too.

I originally wanted to have my bridal shower in a restaurant private room but prices in the area are between 20-30 dollars a person which is way too much for my bridesmaids who are planning my shower. Another option is the community kitchen/dining hall located at my church where we would offwe food and dessert. Would it seem tacky to have a bridal shower at a church dining hall?
