Hi! When I was my sister's MOH, I planned her shower approximately two months before her wedding (wedding was end of May, shower was beginning of April). I've been to showers anywhere from 1-2 months before the wedding. Hope this helps! 
My MOH started planning about a month in advance. She sent an e-vite our a month early, then is working out the details now.
She's hosting the brunch at my house which makes it easier for everyone. Especially since my MOH lives 4 hours away...as does another BM. Needles to say...party weekend at my place!

what do we do? ha ha I feel like a naieve little girl right now, but honestly...all these 'parties' I have no idea what were doing! engagement party, bridal parties, etc ha ha what is it for?

Traditionally a Bridal Shower is held to "shower" the bride with gifts for her new home. It's generally held during brunch (11:00 or so) or lunch (1:00 perhaps). Some people choose to play traditional bridal shower games (google for tons) or some just let the their guests relax and chat each other up. It can be held at someone's home, a restaurant, a church hall - it just depends on what your hosts would like to do.
Mine is a brunch at a restaurant (2 mos before my wedding) and we aren't playing games (just not my family's thing).
Generally brides open all the gifts in front of the guests so your maids (or friends if you arent having maids like me) can help with that process (opening boxes, keeping a gift list so you can write thank yous etc)

My wedding is September and my shower is being given by my mom on June 7th. It will be a lunch. She has rented a hall in a hotel. My MOH is in charge of decorations, and one bridesmaid is in charge of games (the other lives too far away to attend). I am having male and female guests, and my FI will be there.
I can't wait!!

Hiya...
Ok, so I am NOT planning my bridal shower my MOH is. - at least I hope she is...she has talked about it quite a bit and has implied that she is...anyways
I dont think she knows when to plan it for...how far in advance do these things get thrown? I have never been to one myself so I don't really know what they're about either ha ha...what a silly bride I am!
Any insight to the bridal shower planning process?
