- Wedding: October 2013
I had my bridal shower, and my Mom, sister, and one of our family friends Lisa did an amazing job.
One of Mom’s friends hosted it, and it was honestly “perfect”. Very low key, maybe 25-30 people, salads, wraps, grilled vegetables, iced water and lemonade, cupcakes from Crumbs(!!), brownies, cookies, etc. We did one game, which was where I had to give answers to 25 questions, and then Lisa played a video in which Dan also gave answers to the questions, and then everyone played “bingo” with each question number. Thus, the more questions I got right, the more chances everyone had to fill in a possible number on their card. Then Lisa had everyone write down “advice” for me to have a happy marriage — it was all really sweet.
Mom went above and beyond, with the shower, the food, and even gifts, and I’m going to talk about gifts for a second, because I can. Picture frames, monogrammed tote bags with my and Dan’s initials – RDF, and flip flops for both of us. The flip flops pairs were adorable because on one flip-flop it has “10-12-13” on the bottom, and on the other flip flop it says “Rebecca and Dan” on the bottom, so she wants us to take a picture with those in the sand to make the imprints (when we’re on the cruise). THEN, she pulls out 4 pink zip-up hooded sweatshirts that each had our name on it, and she had customized them to say “Team Finson” on the back. Mine says “Bride”, my sister’s says “Maid of Honor”, Mom’s says “Mother of the Bride”, and Dena’s says “Bridesmaid”. Those are for us to wear during hair and make-up during the wedding weekend, since we can’t wear normal shirts that would have to go up over our head.
