I think you just give the hostess of the shower a gift and thank you cards for any gifts you recieve.
I have did vases with there last initial engraved, gift cards, a peice of jewelry, and pitchers from pottery barn! anything you think would suit them!
P.S. i didnt do ALL that for one person lol.. It was gifts for all different parties
Just gifts for the hostesses and thank you cards for all gifts sent later. I did specialty soaps from a local vendor in my city.
As I am also a little shower "dumb" do you give the thank you gift in front of everyone?? or just in private?
The bridesmaids (or hosts) usually give a small favor to each guest, that's not the bride's job.
I had never heard of giving hostess gifts before, although I suppose it's just a common courtesy. I have helped plan 3 bridal showers in the northeast, and I have never received anything tangible for those specific efforts -nor did I expect too! Also, just about every bridal shower I have been to has been technically "hosted" by the mother of the bride, with a lot of help from the bridesmaids. It seems to me that you thank them for all their support and hard work when you present them with gifts at the rehearsal dinner. It is a nice idea though.

Bees,
my bridesmaids are planning a Bridal shower for me at the end of this month! It is really nice of them. I am not very familiar with the tradition, but do i give thank you gifts to all the ladies that are comming to the shower?
