Hello all! I'm brand new here to the WeddingBee world! =) Our Wedding is 10.11.08 and my bridesmaids are starting to talk about Bridal Shower dates. We've decided to do a family shower, a couple's shower with friends and co-workers and then a Bachelorette party. What is the ettiquette on the time frame? I don't want the parties too close to the wedding date, but not too soon either. Thanks for your help!!
Welcome!! I don't know about actual etiquette, but weddings I've been in and how mine will go (which I seem to like)...Wedding - 9/27/08Bachelorette party - 8/23/08Shower #2 - 8/16/08Shower #1 - 7/26/08So about a month in between each "event" other than the showers. Shower #2 was thrown in the mix, but everything else is about a month apart. Also, my bridesmaids are very busy ladies, and could only find 3 weekends in the whole summer that they were all free!!! So that's really what determined our time frame
Ha, I must need more coffee. I read the title of this post as "Time Frame" and I thought "Hmm, she must be having a clock theme and needs picture frames??"
Your wedding is on my birthday! LoL So it's going to be a great day for both of us ;)
If your bridal party and mother is anything like mine, they want to host these parties for you ASAP. My wedding isn't until next May (05-16-09), so here's how I'm hoping to plan events:
In July or early August, we're going to throw a small engagement party for the bridal party, their significant others and our parents and immediate family members.
The bridal shower is going to be hosted at the beginning of 2009, probably March to get past the bad winter months.
The bachelorette party will probably take place at the end of April. And the bridesmaids luncheon will take place the morning after the bachelorette party (killing two birds with one stone here).
I got engaged on March 31, 2007 and we're getting married on October 12, 2008 - Long engagement, I know!!
My parents hosted our engagement party on September 8, 2007, and I'm doing our other events really early - shower this Saturday (June 21) and bachelorette party weekend away July 26-28.
I wanted to do the shower in June since the summer is terrible for anyone getting together, plus my MOH is in vet. med school so September is a gong show for her.
So we're doing everything in the summer - spaces things out a bit and ensures I won't be too stressed with events before the big day!
