Check out the Old Pecan Street Cafe (it's on 6th street). http://www.oldpecanstcafe.com/ There was a table set up kind of away from the other diners for a baby shower when I ate there. The food is yummy too if you did a brunch type thing. They also have a private room, but I don't know anything about the cost.
Thanks for the suggestion, and the message was supposed to say I live in Houston, not Austin. Oops!
I would recommend Chez Zee (mopac and 2222). I'm not sure if they have a private room, but it is very quaint... and their food is very good.
I second the recommendation for Chez Zee, and they do have lovely private rooms that are beautifully decorated. Both their brunch and dinner menus are delicious.
Definitely Chez Zee. I've been there for baby showers and they are very accomodating. Also the lemon rosemary cake is to die for.
I know this is an old post and I am chiming in her very late in the game, but I would also recommend the La Madeleine Bakery and Cafe off of Brodie Lane in Austin....
If you are doing a very small shower (less than 20 or so people), they have a very small, nice, "private room" that is FREE as long as you order some food from them (I think the minimum was under a $100).
It's not a fancy room and it has no windows, but it is a PRIVATE room w/wooden tables and chairs (think French "rustic") and is a little dim, but with some votives and flowers/decor it can be very nice.
I did a small baby shower/luncheon there a couple of months ago and it turned out great! We did a buffet style light lunch (grilled chicken cesar salad, tomato basil soup, sandwiches, tea, etc.) from them and they let me bring on an outside cake and punch and we had a 3+ hour party that was really lovely for under $200 for almost 20 people!
And the staff was WONDERFUL to work with....easy going, quick to take care of all our needs, and they refused a gratuity when I wanted to add one onto my final bill! They were so great, so keep them in mind if you need a small place for a bridal or baby tea/shower or luncheon.

Help! I live in Austin and am hosting a bridal shower in Austin and am looking for suggestions for a location for a bridal shower. I am looking for something kinda classic and intimate since there are only 10 or so people attending. Can anyone recommend something? Thank you so much!
