I live in Charlotte, so feel free to ask me for help. Crave is a great dessert bar, but I have found their prices to be a little high. I'm not sure what your budget is, but you could look at Mez. I had a friend host his birthday party there, and it was a nice place.
@Bichon Frise: Thanks, I will look into Mez... I mentioned Crave to the Bride (after finding it online) and she said it was nice and shed been there before for an event and enjoyed it, so I just started there. I think thats the vibe we're going for, classy but fun, to start out at least; and then after the gifts/ lingerie part on to other more lively spots for the bachelorette fun... Im really not even sure what the budget it yet; I havent gotten a total head count back yet to divide it up amongst us... I would like to hope for no more than $50-60 per person, but I guess that will depend on where & how many of us there are...Im really not even sure what the going rate is "normal " per person for a party like that! What is considered normal??
Wow-- great suggestion, not certain yet, but Mez looks promising, as it is literally within walking distance of where we will all be staying for the wedding & where the wedding is.... Will be great if we are walking distance ! Thanks SOOOO much!!!
@Kell-belle: I'm glad I could help! Honestly, I'm not sure what the pricing is or what you're trying to include in it. For the birthday party we had a three course meal with drinks, but the birthday boy paid for everyone there. Can you say high roller?! Let me know if you need any help with anything else.
@Bichon Frise: awesome , thank you!! You rock... Im really not sure what to include honestly, basically I want everyone to get to eat a meal/heavy appetizers, and drink cocktails, covering the minimums for restaraunt room, and of course the bride will pay nothing, every one else could pay thier own I realize, but you have to meet a minumum at most places. The other costs I would be splitting would be limo/van transportation, but if its walking distance than maybe not.... I will handle sending invites and any decor/favors if we decide on it.... Never really planned a bachelorette before, and there is another party planned that is OOT for a whole weekend and waay out of my grad school budget & timeframe so am doing this one for everyone to be able to attend as many folks are OOT from Charlotte like me and also not making the other long weekend bachelorette...
Your wedding is 1 month after my Charlotte friends wedding!... Congrats!
More questions RE Charlotte party :
For anyone else in the Charlotte area, really liked Mez & the area it is in, as is where we will all be staying, but we have not been able to get anyone from events/catering to return multiple phone calls & emails. Not winning me over there. And when (if?) I finally do reach them, I really dont want any of our guests or the bride to be ignored the night of our party/shower.
We have gotten good feedback from Crave, and the catering manager has been super nice and helpful, and actually they are reasonabley priced. But, the location is futher away for all of us who will be staying literally across the street from Mez...
Anyone know of any other places in the same area as Mez/hotels etc that is nice/upscale and fun??
Thanks Bees =o)
I know blackfinn will rent out their top floor and it's right in the epicenter where MEZ is. you can't really go wrong with any place in the epicenter.

I think enso has a private room too - their sushi is amazing!

i'm going to move this to the charlotte boards - i think you will have better luck getting responses there.
No problem! I would check out howl at the moon too - i'm not sure if they do private events but its such a fun place for a bachelorette party - maybe you guys can go there after dinner or something since its right in the epicenter too - its a dueling piano bar and so much fun! good luck!
i'll try and think of some more places.
here is the epicenter's website - it might give you some more ideas.
@totheislnds: Thank you!!! ♥♥♥ Really like the Blackfinn place, will try to get in touch with them.
I wouldn't consider Mez fun. But I'm not into the nightclub/lounge pretentious vibe. Mez just gave me the creeps and their staff are a bunch of a-holes who stand there and judge you while you're waiting for a drink. If you like the Mez style of nightlife, look at Suite -it's in the Epicentre too. I agree that Blackfinn could be fun if you could get a space. It gets super crowded upstairs on the weekends. My friend did her bachelorette at a piano bar and it was hilarious, so I would second Howl at the Moon. Just please, please, do not go to Whiskey River. Do not let the mechanical bull suck you in. The place is DISGUSTING.
@ananeele: great idea!
Suite isn't a bad choice either! it's def a night club but you can reserve tables on their patio with bottle service which is kinda neat and awesome in the summer - and i didn't know this until i just looked it up but they do dinner parties and catering too. who knew?! haha

There is also a cigar lounge in I think the Marriott right next to the Epicentre I've heard is super chill that you might want to check out.
If the weather is nice, you can't beat Suite for privacy and this type of event. The clientele isn't exactly high end, but if you can get an outside table, it is a nice location.
Wow. There are lots of options. Since you mentioned Crave, I'm inclined to tell you about the new Ritz Carlton's chocolate bar now... yes, CHOCOLATE bar. I think this would be WAY better than Crave, and if you look on the lower right side bar on their website, it looks like they'll help you plan a small gathering... And I bet they have amazing customer service!

Thanks for all the suggestions bees! I am looking into several of them. Honestly, I am not impressed by Mez's response to me thus far, Ive emailed the catering director several times and left several voicemails and a message with receptionsit. I've heard zero back-- I really dont want my bride's party to be treated that way. Another member of the bridal party is helping me and called/emailed Mez, and got a response from the same guy Ive been trying for weeks, on the same day. Weird, and I still have yet to here back. Seems shady to me. If I had to pick based on promptness of returned phone calls and friendliness of the event/catering director I am going with Crave.....
Thanks again all for the input!!! =o)

Hi Bees.
I am a FL MOH for a Charlotte, NC wedding ... and I am trying to plan upcoming bridal festivities from Florida. I have found a few places that am playing phone tag with.. but in the mean time looking for suggestions.
We are looking to do a lingerie shower/bachelorette party combined event in early evening hours at a fun but sophisticated location, where we will be able to have a private room. Guessing between 20-25 people... I have found so far Crave dessert Bar, and Loft 1523, which seem like the kind of atmosphere I am looking for...But Im not sure yet of their pricing and if its even do-able so wanted some other ideas...Google has not been super helpful.
Any help would be awesome, planning parties in a city you don't live in is challenging!
