They can be a great resource. There are a lot of discounts to be had if you pick up their publication or if your ready to book right then and there they'll hook ya up. BUT, unless you're truly interested in a vendor or service- DO NOT give your email, home address or phone number. I made the mistake of doing so and I was sooooo annoyed. I constantly get mail, emails and calls saying I've won something if I purchase something (highly unlikely), or because I went to the show I get exclusive savings (not at all true), etc. And even when I say I'm not interested or block the email address, they continue to contact me, yikes.
I've been to a couple of these. They can be informative, but I do agree with jennifer_espos, you might want to be careful giving out your personal information. I made sure to list an email address that I didn't care too much about and left off my phone number on all the forms. At one, I did put my street address and I've been getting junk mail for months--and my wedding was 4 months ago!
However, having said that, I think bridal shows can be a good place to get ideas. Just go and have fun and see what you can see. :)
There's a big one here in January that I'd really like to go to, but I need to find someone to go with me so I can have a rescue if I get stuck talking to someone!

I'm planning to go to a bridal show next month, and I really don't know what to expect. Anybody ever been to one of these events? What do I need to know before I go?
