Have any of you attended bridal shows? There is one coming up here in Phoenix on Nov. 1st and I was thinking of going-mostly in hopes of scoring some free stuff or discounts. Have any of you attended bridal shows? Was it worth it? Did you find great vendors you didn’t know about?

My husband and I went to a bridal show right as we started planning. It was so worth it! We participated in every contest and put our names down for every drawing. My husband ended up winning me a free gown by making me a toilet paper wedding dress (woot!) and we won a free engagement shoot with the photographer we ended up hiring for our wedding.
I say and go and have a great time! There’s lots of information plus free food, free champagne, and the possibility of winning something really great like we did!

I’ve been to several here in Houston with friends prior to getting engaged. It was very overwhelming. Lots to look at. I didn’t get any free stuff but lots of emails and phone calls saying I won something and to come to their meeting to claim it. I went to the Mary Kay one and got some free lip gloss but really it was more about trying to get me to be a full time customer. That’s okay.
I would just say that be prepared to be overwhelmed with ideas and stuff. If you go knowing that you want to look at cake vendors or flowers then you can skip stuff.

I participated in a show last year, as a vendor. But now I’m looking forward to the January show as a bride!
I know what I want for my day, but its fun to look at & I’m going to enter every single contest available to me! I think it’s worth it just for the free swag alone 🙂

Should I take my MOH or my FI? I don’t know how long he would last at something like that. He can only last about 2 hours just regular shopping.

I also went to one in Houston and found it to be somewhat helpful but overwhelming. Everyone received a booklet with all of the vendors and their websites/phone numbers which made it easier to look them all up later on. A lot of vendors offered discounts for booking at the show or within a certain period of time. Overall it was nice for ideas but I still spent plenty of time doing my own research afterwards. I would definitely recommend going if you’re not completely sure what you want for your wedding just yet.
A couple of tips- bring address labels with you so that you don’t have to write out your address, phone number, and email address 500 times. Also, have two bags as you meet people, one for information from people you are actually interested in and another for stuff you take because you are trying to be polite.
