bump - I'm trying on a dress tomorrow that's my dream dress and the sample is for sale. The store can be kind of shady and it's the only one within 3 states that has it... I'd love to know a jumping off point for what discounts SHOULD be to buy a used store sample....
I bought a sample of a Romona Keveza dress for $3k...it retails normally for about 4450. I'm too lazy to do the math to figure out the percentage of the price decrease
One of the stores I went to had sale dresses for super cheap, but then also sold some off the rack but not with that significant of a discount. I was told for one dress it would be 15% and then another dress they wouldn't sell because it was still so new. A different store wouldn't sell samples, and then another store I went to would but the discounts only ranged between 15 to 20%
I work for a store and they are supposed to be 1/2 off! thats what we sell ours for!
I would hope it's more than 15%. You get 10% off typically for new gowns at trunk shows and most sample gowns have been clipped and pulled and stepped on and sweated in and.... ya...
I got my reception dress which is also a wedding gown for 50%-- it was casablanca-- GOOD LUCK!!
I got my dress for 50% off, but that was a special once a year sale they were having. The rest of the time the samples are only 15% off.
Another store I went to said there is NO discount for sample dresses that are in good condition!
And another store gives 20% off, or 50% if the dress is discontinued.
I'm surprised to hear what great discounts some of you girls have gotten on sample dresses! What stores are these that offer 50% off all the time? I may just buy a second dress if I can find one cheap enough!
I got really lucky with my dress since the bridal shop was phasing out their inventory the brand. My Casablanca was more than 50% off and it was in pristine condition. I think it helped that I went with a less traditional color (it's a shimmery silver).
does anyone know where I can find a Justin Alexander 9552 sample in a size 10????

Curious, I know when gowns are new and never worn - most suggest 25-30% off to sell. Worn gowns usually about 50%.
What about bridal store sample gowns... the ones that have been tried on, pinned, pulled, stepped all over, etc... What's an "average" do you think for their sample sales?
