I’m getting married in cool weather, so I’m on the prowl for a sweet ivory sweater that I can wear with my dress if the evening gets cool in the later part of our reception. I’ve seen several great photos of this trend on wedding blogs recently (greenweddingshoes was one of them). What’s interesting is that some of the sweaters are fancy and decorated, others are just simply made of a very nice fabric. Some are shrugs, others cardigans, some wrap sweaters. I love the idea of a classy, dressy gown, with a simple sweater. Sometimes the colors don’t match exactly and that looks neat too.
I love the idea and have a feeling it might come in handy when the night gets chilly! Problem is I don’t know where to get one, or even where to start looking. Anyone seen one on Etsy? Should I make one? Is it possible to find one in a store somewhere? Because of the cut of my dress, I’m looking for an ivory shrug-length sweater that wraps around the front and ties with a ribbon bow on the front somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks!

I haven’t really seen a bridal “sweater”…do you have some pics of ones you like? I’ve seen boleros but those are usually short sleeved and made kinda light and airy I thought. You could have one made in a pretty crochet pattern, but then it own’t be super warm =

I think that, because you have such a specific image in mind, the best place to go would be to Etsy and make an Alchemy request. That way you can put in the exact description that you posted here and won’t have to hunt for it. Because it’s coming up to the summer I’d be surprised if you find exactly what you want in shops at the moment.

I am getting a fur wrap from either David’s Bridal or Etsy.

Before I bought a dress with a bolero, I was looking at Jcrew for a cute cardigan to wear over my dress. They have a couple with ruffles or rosettes and with chiffon that could work with a wedding dress.
