I was told when I went gown shopping that bridal gowns run abount 2 sizes bigger than you’re street clothes. Is this the same for bridesmaids dresses? My daughter wears around a 10 size street clothes (and somethings those are too big). Would she wear a size 10 jr. bridesmaid dress or does this mean she would wear a bigger size?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback. I’m stressing on finding my daughter a dress. It’s such a special day for her and I both.

It depends on the line.
I’ve purchased several bridesmaids dresses from David’s Bridal and they were the same size the the jeans I wear.
Find a store that had the dress line you’re looking for and try some on. Or look online for the sizing chart for the dress you’re interested in- then compare it to your daughter’s measurements.

I got my wedding dress from Davids as well as the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. My dress was the same as my street size, but my sister was 2 sizes bigger in her Bridesmaid or Best Man dress. I would have her go with you to try on dresses. Davids is the best since they have an assortment of sizes

Dress shopping here in Aus I’ve been (i’m a larger lass) anywhere from a 14 (minor miracle!!!) to a 22 (thats just scary) and my street clothes are usually 18’s or 16’s. The other *local* bridesmaid’s street clothes are 10 or 12, and she’s fitted as small as a 4, and up to a 12. It really does depend on the store and line. Let the ladies at the shops know what size her street clothes are, and they’ll find the right sizes. But i’ve learnt – DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE TAG SIZES!!! Its very easy to let it get to you, but its just the designers ideas of what size people ‘should’ be.

It depends on the designer. The best way would probably be to just take her measurements and order a dress that closest matches that. Don’t pay attention to the size because sometimes they are so off that it’s really confusing.
