Hey military bees! If you or your fiance were deployed to certain places within the last 5 years, or have an upcoming deployment, make sure to check out Brides Across America! They offer free sample gowns for military brides and have giveaways twice a year: in November and July.

Just wanted to post an update – I got my dress at the Tulle Bridals BAA event! It was a pretty amazing experience.
I came in looking for either a cap sleeve lace trumpet or a non-poofy tulle gown. Heidi, the owner of Tulle Bridals and BAA founder went through several racks of dresses with me, we chose some options and I started trying stuff on. The gowns were all in great shape (I had some concerns there, after seeing some really beat up sample gowns in other salons), and ranged from Galina to Enzoani Blue to Romona Keveza. About 5 dresses in I started getting really nervous, because there wasn’t anything I really loved… And then Heidi brought in a dress that she had recommended in the very beginning but I didn’t like it on the hanger and turned it down. I put it on and… got confused! It was nothing like what I had wanted, and yet I could definitely picture myself walking down the aisle in it.
It had been a fairly long day, and Heidi was incredible about not pressuring me into things, even though she loved that dress on me. She said I could sleep on it, so I took some pictures and went home with a bag full of goodies from their friends. I had signed up for another giveaway in two days, so I thought I’d take a look at the options there and then decide.
Long story short, but I came to realize that even if it wasn’t what I had originally planned, I LOVED the dress, so I skipped the second giveaway and will be picking it up later this week! It’s an Alfred Angelo 2146, it’s in PERFECT shape (seriously, it looks and feels absolutely brand new), and best of all, the size is almost perfect – it’s not clipped in in the pictures!
I can’t say enough good things about BAA and will be donating my gown back to them after the wedding. What they do is truly amazing, and I would recommend them to anyone.

@dancingriss: thank you so much! Hopefully some other military brides will be able to discover BAA through my experience.
Oh, one more thing – participation in events requires a (tax deductible) $20 donation to BAA. This is certainly the best $20 I’ve ever spent!
