Please read my story of a perfect wedding journey ruined by Brides and Grooms shop inNewark, De. I am the Matron of Honor/sister of the bride. My sister chose this store against other brides telling her about their horror experience. She was praying that the store would have improved and that she wouldn’t have the same negative experience that the other brides had. Well that was not the case. This was supposed to be a happy, joyous, pleasant, fun experience and this store made this experience very stressful, upsetting, and difficult. There is no reason a Bride should have to go up to the store that many times, with that many problems, with all the other million things a bride has to be concerned about. I mean from watching Bridal shows on T.V., the bridal shop is supposed to ease the stress of the dress experience. Ok, well let’s begin. All of the bridesmaid dresses with the exception of ONE were measured incorrectly. The dress store told most of us we had to go up two sizes. The one brave bridesmaid who told them no she was not going up picked up her perfectly fitting dress and had to pay for NO alternations. The rest of us who listened to the dress store are now stuck with alternations; which by the way I heard with my own two ears alterations would be capped off at 60.00 and they clearly wanted to charge into the hundreds and didn’t keep their word. So, two possible reasons our dresses were measured incorrect. 1). More income for the store for alterations. 2). The store is so small, busy, and understaffed they just didn’t take the time needed to measure us correctly. Everything can’t be done by rushing. Ok, so on to the next issue. They charged my sister the max to have alternations to her dress. She only needed very little adjustments. See a pattern here?? More income for the store. Next, the flower girl ordered her dress and a jacket to go with it. When the dress came in and sat for a month they waited until the dress was picked up to let us know the jacket wasn’t ordered. When you called to say the dress came in, you couldn’t then let us know the jacket wasn’t ordered to we could work on other arrangements? Next, Mother of the Groom dress paid months in advance. Called her 3 weeks for before wedding to say dress wasn’t ordered. Our father went to get measured and stood there for 30 minutes and no one ever asked if they could help him. He left the store and returned another day. My husband was measured and wasn’t comfortable with his measurements. Went back and another lady measured him with completely different numbers. There is no room to hardly move around, sit, or stand. Put two bridal parties in there and you will be very frustrated. The staff changes were frequent. You couldn’t deal with the same person each time you came in and some of the ladies were not pleasant when the bridal party came in. I could go on and on and on but you get the point. Bottom line, this store can not handle large parties. They do have their favorites though, so if you happen to fall into their favorite’s category, I’m sure they will cater to you.
If you want your wedding day to be stress free as it should be, Brides and Grooms is not the place to be.
