    Oh my.

I'm really not against email invitations at all.  We did paper ones but it really seems a bit pointless except to maybe my grandma and some older individuals who don't check email on a daily basis - but Oprah says tacky - I think it's tacky to encourage people to waste paper, so there Oprah.

i think that for something as important as a wedding, even the least expensive invitation suite from walmart would be more appropriate than an email.  Would you want something so important to get filtered into someone's junk mail? or to even have to deal with relatives giving you a hassle about your decision? haha.

Then again, whatever.  Just have some beer and wine at your reception at least and i don't care how the invite got there ;)

We did paper invitations but in retrospect I just didn't think they added too much, but for some people, depending on how they're done, they're superb and do a great job setting the tone.  For us, that's not what did it.

We invited 130 people, 125 came - but between myself, FI, and our parents, each person invited ended up talking to us and getting 'personally pumped' for the wedding.  I think that helped set the tone way more than our invitation, and personal communication did a much better job at getting an accurate head count than the rsvps.

But I guess the point I was trying to make since she was talking about the word 'tacky' is that one person's opinion of properness can be another persons opinion of tackiness.  Are there better ways than others to throw a party - def, but hey I've had some great time at 'tacky' parties - even ones I had to chip in at.

Haha. We seriously thought about email invites. We decided to go with online-RSVPs instead. As almost 20% of the guest list is out of country, it'll definitely be expensive to send out the invitations but I think they're worth it. Whats not worth it is paying for a lot of unused postage when our RSVP cards get "lost in the mail"... just my 2 cents!

I did paper invites but i made them myself and i had people RSVP online to save on stamps and extra paper that would be coming back to me. Thats a fair exchange i think :)

Funny, my FH joked we could just use evite.  I had to make sure he was joking as easy as it sounds it's just so different when it comes weddings.

i'm getting married in vegas and we are having an elvis impersonator at our reception - i bet a lot of people would think that was tacky and you know what - that's fine by me!!

i think email invites would be a great way to be more eco friendly.  the only reason im not doing that is b/c i LOVE paper so much and my friend is designing them

wildstyle.... my dream wedding is Vegas in a limo standing up thru the sunroof, going thru a drivethru wedding and having a elvis minister

oh, and the entire wedding vows are elvis songs like "do yo promise to be her teddy bear, to love him do" etc

    :D

hubby knows it WILL happen one day :D

eloping - you totally need to do it!  rent a red vintage car or a pink caddy - they actually have chapels where you can drive up to elvis in the vintage car of your choice and he marries you!

that's probably in our future as well just the two of us.  but i was dead set on having elvis at our vegas wedding in some way!
