- Wedding: May 2013
I just spent 2 weeks in a hotel with a room overlooking the ‘wedding’ area of the resort, so I had the opportunity to watch 7 wedding ceremonies! I thought I’d pass along these observations
– It is going to be windy. Usually the beach / waterfront = wind. I saw one bride whose veil got blown out of her hair while walking down the aisle. And bridesmaids were busy holding down their ‘flowy’ dresses so they wouldn’t flash all the guests. This happened almost every time, even if it wasn’t windy further inland. Plan your outfit and bridesmaid dresses accordingly!
– Inform guests if your ceremony is on the sand or in the grass. One bride had a cute ‘leave shoes here’ sign, but didn’t realize that the sand was super hot after a day in the sun, so guests were running to their seats. One set of bridesmaids were wearing heels, but couldn’t walk on the grass in them, so they held them in their hands next to their bouquets while walking up the aisle. I’m not sure if this is what the bride intended, but it was a different look! Maybe stock up on flip flops and have them shipped to your location ahead of time?
– Weddings at sunset are gorgeous, but that means your guests are probably staring directly into the sun. Maybe put a reminder on the invitation or your website to bring sunglasses?
– Have your hiding place picked out ahead of time. You want to know where to wait while your guests are being seated before you walk down the aisle. I saw one bride literally crouching behind a bush until her coordinator waved her in!
Overall, these weddings were soo soo gorgeous!! Any beach bride is super lucky. Other brides feel free to leave your tips below too!
