I picked the place, colors, theme, and menu. My mom and bridesmaids did all the rest.

I told my BMs/mom I DID NOT want to be surprised (it would have been difficult to surprise me anyway since I live in NJ and all my family/friends are in MO), and then suggested a date that worked out well for my trips home, and then got the space okayed (my aunt’s house – it’s centrally located and big enough for our crowd). Beyond that, I’m leaving it all up to my BMs, mom, and aunt. I will be, of course, helping with the guest list, though!

I knew the date of my bridal shower, considering that I needed to take the day off work. I also gave a list of people that I wanted there, although my mother/mil took it on themselves to invite whoever they wanted anyhow.

I chose some of the food (key lime cupcakes and chili quonqueso). I didn’t have a theme or colours or anything like that. I think I had one of the most laid back showers ever.

@CarterLove:  My MIL did which made myself and DH beyond angry because it was someone (MIL’s friend) who we said from the start was NOT invited and we were not changing our minds. It was an on-going fight the entier wedding process. My mother invited people who were not invited to the wedding, but they didin’t show up anyhow.

@CarterLove:  Yep there is a rule about people invited to the shower should alo be invited to the wedding. MIL was hoping that we would cave. We didn’t. IMHO it was RUDE or MIL to invite her knowing how DH and I felt.
