You could always take off your glasses for your formal pictures. I’ve had similar problems with contacts, I wore them since I was 12 and developed irritations in my eyes that made it next to impossible to wear them anymore.  The doctor recommended going glasses only which I did for about 12-14 months.  When I went back to the doctor, they allowed me to get contacts again, but I usually only wear them for about 6-8 hours at a time, and alternate contacts one day, glasses 1-2 days etc.  How long has it been since you’ve tried contacts?  You may be able to tolerate them better if its been a while.

I wore my glasses just as I always do. But then again I also don’t mind them and have never even considered contacts. I wanted to feel and look like “myself”, and you should certainly have that option as well.

@MsATC:  You look beautiful! I’ll be wearing my glasses too (had eye surgery and can’t wear contacts). Yay for looking like ourselves!

I hated contacts, I wore them about 10 years ago.  I actually got a couple boxes just for the purpose of the wedding.  They are actually way easier for me to wear now.

@MsATC:  You look amazing!!

I would warna against not wearing the glasses, especially if that’s how people are used to seeing you – I’ve got friends with glasses, and it feels really strange when they change to contacts (or even take their glasses off for a short while). It’s almost as if they’re a different person. Not to mention that you’re more likely to squint or look the wrong way if you’re not able to see too well (which is never a good look!).

Perhaps try looking for some new frames that will suit your wedding dress more and, if you do decide to go without glasses, just check with your friends and family that you will still look like you!

Thanks, ladies! I, too, would love to see pix of other glasses-wearing brides. I’m sure there are other beauties rockin some glasses (and maybe even curls?? haha)

I’m not wearing my glasses only because of the glare in pictures.

I work with a photographer and I notice that a lot of the time if someone if wearing photos there is a glare. It is easy to fix with the lighting if you are indoors but since the majority of my photos will be outside it will be a little bit tougher and I dont want this to happen.

I also had maternity photos done with my glasses on and I wasn’t a huge fan of the ones with my glasses on for that reason alone.. glare! ah!

@seevan07:  Yay curls! Are you planning to wear them for the wedding?

I’ll be wearing contacts for the wedding. I wore them years ago (in high school–for prom–and college), but they actually gave me ulcers from the rubbing. It’s been quite a while to muster the courage to wear them again, but my optometrist assures me that it will be okay. I’ll be sticking to the dailies (less chance of bacteria, etc.), and only wearing them sporadically. I just don’t want glare in pictures (I always take my glasses off for pics, so what’s the point in wearing them on the day I’ll be most photographed?).

I love four eyed brides.  😉

I wear glasses but not for everything, I will however have them with me for vows and such.

Maybe get a new special pair that you’ll feel good in?
