…I didn’t even know that was a thing. Apparently we buy gifts for everyone now 😛

I’ve been pondering this questions for a while because my father is paying for my reception and basically FMIL is paing for the rest, we only had to pay for the photographer and photobooth. I have NO clue at what to get them!!  Hope to read lots of great IDEAS!

I got him (and the other parents) an embroidered hankerchief with a really sweet message, and he totally cried.  They may be “overdone” if you look at Pinterest, but they totally blew our parents away.

We’ll also do a big canvas print of their choice and a photobook when we get our pictures back.

I think something personalized that he would treasure would be better than a gift card, but if your dad isn’t the sentimental type, maybe you’re on the right track.

ETA:  I got the four hankerchiefs from http://www.etsy.com/shop/InspiredStitches, and I literally think it might be the best $100 I spent on the wedding.  They are beautiful, and all four loved them SO much.

My dad got a new son-in-law! Haha, but seriously, the man has everything he could want/need because my mother is forever getting him the same items for Christmas year after year after year. So I got him a bottle of whiskey.

@classical_wolf:  @inky_1:  I love my dad but we are paying for everything ourselves (well, my siblings gifted our elopement to us but that’s another story). I am not giving him a gift just for attending. I assume there is a mother of the bride gift too? What about a brother, sister, or dog of the bride gift? Just say NO to all these gifts or you will be bankrupt. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

@MrsPanda99:  lol well my parents are paying for nearly the entire thing, so I’m all for giving them gifts 🙂

I’m giving gifts to the following people:

Mothers (including future MIL) – hand-made pottery vases w/ sayings I picked out inscribed on them (kind of wishing I’d done jewelry now, but I bought the vases a while ago)

Fathers (including future FIL) – personalized cufflinks

Bridesmaids – custom-made necklaces

Groomsmen – FI paid for 1/2 their rentals

Flower Girl (my niece) – custom-made necklace

Ring Bearer (cousin’s son) – Toys R Us gift card

@MrsPanda99:  I like your “story”. I can see FI and I inviting my family over for dinner or something, but as for getting the gifts, even if they did pay for the wedding (and my family is). I feel like if we actually got them “gifts”, it would be weird.

I got my dad a fishing lure with “father of the bride” engraved on it.

I also custom painted a picture frame for both my parents which read, “today a bride, tomorrow a wife, forever your daughter”
