I’m hoping brides who had a later wedding…i.e. ceremony at 6PM…would share their day-of schedules/itineraries with me. I’m trying to get a handle on how much time I’ll actually have the day-of and how early we’ll need to start hair, makeup, etc.
We are planning on doing a “first look” and doing the majority of our photos before the ceremony.
It would be great if you could also let me know how it worked for you and whether you stayed on schedule! 🙂

Bump! I’m interested to hear other bride’s timelines as we will also have a late start ceremony!

My ceremony starts at 6:00, and we’re also doing a first look and pictures before the ceremony! Here’s my day of itenerary:
12:00 hair starts. That includes me and my 3 bridesmaids. (I have updo, BMs will have their hair down)
Photographer arrives at 2:30 to begin taking “getting ready” photos.
Everyone to be ready to go at 3:30.
3:30 is first look.
3:30-5:00 is wedding party pictures. (we plan on leaving our venue and taking pictures around the city)
5:00-5:30 is family pictures. (at the venue)
Back in our hotel rooms by 5:30ish so that arriving guests don’t see us.
I can’t say whether it worked for me since it hasn’t happened yet, but I think it’s a pretty good plan! We put in some extra time for hair and photos just in case – I’d rather be early than running late!

@leahthehun: Thanks for your response! Good luck on your big day!

@laureneliz87: we’re doing 6pm as well.
I have our hair appointments booked for 9am (the salon originally did 8 and I refused). We’ll be done by 11:30 – my hair + 4 BMs one of whom has an INSANE amount of hair (like it’s ridiculous, her ponytail has like a 3″ diameter)
We’re having a light lunch at the hotel at noon, makeup after lunch at 1:00, girls get dress, photog coming at 3:00 or 3:30 for getting ready and bridal party pictures, 5:15 (at the latest) we have to be en route to the venue (it’s a half hour drive). We’re not doing a first look – I’m doing everything I can to avoid it.

My first look and pics were at 6pm, but the ceremony was at 7pm.
The way we did it was that I did my girls makeup while they go their updos done at 11am-12pm. Basically while one had her hair done, I did the other ones makeup and vice versa.
With hair done & bags packed in the car by 2pm, we got to the venue by 3pm.
At 3pm-4pm, I looked over the venue and did a last minute rehearsal with the group, then my makeup artist arrived at about 4:15. He was supposed to take 45 minutes, but he ended up taking like an hour and a half, so I had to RUSH into the dress and jewelry and veil. I also had to take my hair out of the pins that my curls were held up in.
We started pics at 6pm, and the ceremony started 10 minutes late at 7:10pm.
Basically, get a move on in the morning no later than 9-10am.

I’m starting mine at 4, so don’t quite make the cut for this thread, but I’m certainly interested in seeing how other brides are doing their day-of schedule!

I am interested too! I wanted 6, but photographers suggest 5 since I didn’t want a “first look.” I can’t wait to see replies!

@leahthehun: I would bump the hair appointment back an hour.

Our ceremony was at 5:30. I believe I arrived at the venue around 1:30 for hair and makeup (friend did my hair, I did makeup), first look at 3:30, family photos around 4(?), back to the bridal suite at 5 to chill out and touch up whatever was needed, then ceremony time. We had no bridal party. So chill and easy.

@MrsSkeletonKey: Make the hair at 11am? That gives us 4.5 hours for hair, which I think is too much. My hair will take the longest and I’d be shocked if it took a whole hour. The 3 BMs are just having their hair down and wavy – about 30-45 minutes each IF that. Even if I took a full hour and they each took 45 minutes, that’s only 3.25 hours.

@leahthehun: I’m giving the advice based on what occured during my wedding.
There were 3 of us getting our hair done at 11am for my 7pm ceremony. By the time it was 4pm, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off because other things crept up that needed attending to. I can’t imagine what I would have done if I didn’t have that extra time, since my makeup took way longer than it was supposed to, we had to do a second rehearsal because a groomsmen “forgot” what to do (ugh!) and so many other things just popped up that needed to be dealt with.
