I have shoulder lenght hair. I knew from day one that I wanted long romantic curls and to wear my hair half-up half down. I opted to add clip-in remy hair extensions. They looked so real and nobdy knew I was even wearing them. I LOVED how my hairstylist made my vision come true. Here’s what it looked like.

My sister was my MOH and had just below chin length hair. She had a pic of an updo she liked and I was sure her hair was too short. Absolutely not – they pulled it off so well I almost had hair envy! Will have a look for a pic of the back of her head!

i’m going with extensions to make sure I have the volume i want for my updo.  The stylist said its the best thing I could have done.

This is my sister’s updo. Her hair was not very long at all. (Sorry don’t have a pic of how long but I would say between chin and top of dress.

This is my do (sorry for the blurry pic) I had been growing my hair out for a year so it was a little past my shoulders. They added one of those bun things for extra volume. I loved my style but did hesitate a little when I saw the softer look my sis had gone for.

LibrarianBride:  your stylist might be able to put your hair back in a low ponytail, add a really long extension, and then twist it into a bun so elaborate that it covers up the ponytail.

I have actually seen ready-made buns that you just pin on over a short ponytail. however, I can’t find them in the U.S. I’m guessing a wig store might carry them though. I’d love to find one for myself.

another idea would be dramatic sculpted waves, like a 1920-1960’s era style. you would need to talk to your stylist about what length of hair you would need for that, in case you have to grow it a little.

Check out this blog for hair inspiration. I’m currently in the same boat since I did a major chop right before planning our Oct ’14 wedding and my hair is only now to my shoulders. Lots of tutorials and she has shoulder length hair. http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com

my hair was shoulder length for my wedding and this is kind of how i wore it:

it’s not exactly what i had, but you get the idea. what i did was set my hair in rollers and then just pinned it back/up.
