Stupid question, forgive me, but how are you writing out your wedding date in numbers?

    Will it be:

    11.5.11 (made up date)

    or

    11.05.11?

I'm asking because I'm working on designing a monogram and I always refer to and think of my wedding date as the first option...but that might not be the correct way to write it. Thoughts?

I voted the second option, because it's more correct, and I like how my date looks: 10/09/10 :)

I always write 1.7.11...I've never been one to put a "0" before single digit dates, though. But, I think it looks good either way!!

I don't think it really matters.  If you are going for something more formal, then I think 11.05.11 would be the way to write it.  It just depends on what you want.  I don't have this problem though, so it's not something I have given a lot of thought to.

my wedding date was 11.7.08 and that's how I wrote it on monograms, etc.

I'm military, so to me it looks weird without the zeroes!

I think it's more of a personal preference than a right or wrong kind of thing.  I mixed up the two methods... 9.05.10

thanks everyone! I guess I'm still torn. Obviously I always say "eleven, five, eleven" rather than "eleven, oh-five, eleven" and so I would always write it that way...but then I thought maybe it wasn't "correct?"

But, you're right, kiddosc, it could be a personal preference thing.

I like just the 5 because the two elevens on either side of it look mirrored.  Very cool date.

The only time I'd write the leading zero in is if I were creating some sort of monogram or logo that was going to look more like this:

    11
    05
    11

    Hope that makes sense.

Wow, I never thought about it...I guess we'll just do 7/3/10?  Maybe 7/3/2010?  Or just skip just numbers all together and write it out: July 3rd, 2010.

Prolly the last now that I look at it.

We got married in September, and put the zero in front of the nine. We didn't even have a super formal wedding (or invite), but I just really liked the look of it better because it was even :)

I'm not a big fan of zeros unless it's in a super abbreviated form.

ETA: But I think you could do either, no problem - which 'balances' better in your monogram? I hope we get to see that eventually!

Our monogram had 05.02.09 with the dots and extra 0s. :)

We're doing  8-7-10, I guess I never really thought about putting the zero in front of either number.

i think abou these things too.  i am getting married 10.02.2010 and i write it like that bc its all 0's, 1's and 2's.  i would normally inlcude the "0" but since youre is a palindrome if you dont use it, i like it better without!  i know, strange...but these little things matter to me for some reason, haha.

Do whatever looks better. Personally, I think the zero looks better w/ yours, because the month is a double digit, but I think it's only aesthetic.

im actually 9.10.11 and i would rather keep it without the zero before the nine so that it flows with the succession of numbers and i do like the way it looks :) i LOVE the way yours looks as noted from above:

    11

    05

    11

I always write the 0 before the 5 for our May wedding, so 05.xx.10 - but I write the day that way all the time, not just for our wedding!

I voted for the second one...but that's because my wedding was on 09-08-07.  Interestingly enough...my son was born on 07-08-09 :)

I agree with some previous posters that it's a personal preference thing, depending on the aesthetic of your stationary/wedding/etc.  Personally, I like the look without the extra zeros, but it might be b/c I work in science/research, and all I can think is "There are too many significant figures!"  Laughing

Good question. I've been writing our date 10.01.10, but 10.1.10 makes sense too. I'm just worried that the loney "1" in the center looks kind of weird/confusing.

As are as your date goes, I think I like it best without the 0 in front of the 5.

I think 11.5.11 is rounded and would write it with out the zero, my date 02.11.11 would be weird without the zero because its the first number 2.11.11 is just too uneven, yours 11.5.11 is mirrored so it works!!
