My wedding colours are champagne (primary colour), soft pink (accent colour), ivory (brimary colour), antique gold (accent colour), and bronze (accent colour). Do you guys think i should pick bridemaids gowns in one of those colours? Or would it look weird to pick a dark purple or dusty grey?

I’ve been struggling with the whole matching of the wedding decor and bridal party thing too. doesn’t help that I have a couple of very opinionated BMs who want to have their say on what colour and style of dress to wear. (sigh)
My Fiance and I recently changed our colours, again, to Magenta (pinky purple) and Persimmon (dark orange). Since it’s an ocean, seashell theme however, I said ok, there’s the sunset, what about the sea? So I’m adding teal/turquoise into the decor, with gold accents.
I had my heart set on teal dresses for my BMs, and the decor would match. Now I think it will look better that the bridal party matches with themselves, and add the different colours to the decor.
In other words, I think you should choose the colour you want to see your BMs in, with the matching colour on the groom’s side. If it’s light pink, great. If it’s plum, that’s great too! personally, I think grey is drab, even though it’s a safe choice for wear-again potential.

Maybe do just the opposite; pick a color that looks decent, but doesn’t exactly match spot on. That way the wedding party will stand out in the photos. Maybe brown dresses with rose or champagne sashes around their waists.

Ha ha your wedding colors and mine are EXACTLy the same! I opted for blush pink dresses with champagne sashes as I am super particular about cohesion.
(It is really all one light pink color, the camera did wierd things)
