I have six bridemaids in my wedding all of them are average build in one is short and plus size. I know many people probably run in to this problem but I’m not sure where to begin shopping for bridemaid dresses. I plan to go shopping just her and I so that she is more comfortable and take a look at dresses. This could give us an idea on what she likes and is comfortable in. I want all my girls to look their best and have FUN dresses.
-Should I put all the girls in different dresses but the same color and material?

Letting pick the style that fits them best but keeping the same fabric and color is going to be your best option… plus I think it is fun and allows them to express who they are also… good luck!

I agree^ My bridesmaids dresses are a different cut than my dress, but the chiffon fabric ties them together and still makes everything look uniform 🙂

@WellyBride: Personally I think you have a lot of options:
Different materials – different dresses – same shades (ombre?)
Different cuts of dress – same designer
Completely different colors (maybe each ina hue from your wedding colors?) One bride is doing all ‘peacock colors’ so purple, navy, teal, green, blue, etc.
I have unmatching dresses – in floral pattern that all have some basic ties together – same size print, all short – and using cowboy boots and similiar pearls to pull it together.

Well, I am in this predicament right now. I am the only plus size bridesmaid in a wedding. I love the dress that was picked out for everyone. Since I am plus size, I was not able to try on the dress before buying it. The bridal shop we all had to get the dresses from only had a size 12 sample. The shop took my measurements and are making me buy a dress that is going to be huge on me!! They base everything on measurements. Hopefully, it ends up fitting. I guess what I am saying, is picking a color or material or both and then having your bridal party pick out their own dress would be ideal. I think it looks great and it can make the women in your life feel special if they get to pick out what they think looks best on them. Good Luck!
