I would pick something that isn't outrageously priced...it's your wedding! You deserve what you want and they will want to be there for you as they were for the overlap friend! Don't settle and have the same dresses she did, make it your own and put your own spin on it. There's nothing wrong with doing the same color that a friend already wore in someone else's wedding
Yeah I agree, pick the dress and design YOU want. I'm sure they wouldn't have agreed to be bridesmaids twice if they didn't expect to get 2 dresses. If you're concerned about their spending, maybe pick something they can wear again or something inexpensive? What color are you using?
thanks girls! you are totally right, i think i just needed to hear that! I think i'm just going to let them play a role in picking the dress so that they can pick something they might wear again...and even if they don't, they'll at least feel like they got to pick something that made them feel pretty, right?

OK this is a strange question, but i have a distant friend who got married (i wasn't invited and there is very little overlap between us). a few of my bridesmaids were in her wedding, and i'm looking to do the same color dress that she did for my bridesmaids. But I feel really guilty asking my girls to buy another dress in the same color, especially since her dresses were really expensive! So i was contemplating letting them wear the dresses they wore and just having the other bridesmaids get similar dresses.
The problems? Well, i kind of want their dresses to be the same, and the ones they have are pretty different (same color and designer, that's it). I could get over that. The other problem is that for the remaining girls, the designer's dresses are way more than i wanted them to have to spend. But i think if the dresses are different, i would at least want them to be the same designer.
Should i try to work with what they have? or make everyone get new dresses? i'm trying to be mindful of the economy and save everyone some $. Any creative solutions would be helpful :)
