I say go for it, but have you checked out preowned wedding dress websites? maybe you could find the Camille dress. And, just an FYI, dresses in person arent usually as poofy as in designer pics, atleast that's what I've found.
Out of all of the BM's dresses I like the last one the best. Like you said it flows better. But in getting a BM's dress you are losing the train which added with the buttons is a lovely bridal look :)
my favorite is the first one. && in response to the now train - i am actually VERY short and my seamtrest can make all the extra length into a nice, small train.
also, i have looked many times in the past three months for a recycled dress... i can't find that particular one. i can wear either a 12 or 14.
Go for it! I'm wearing a bridesmaid dress (in white) to my wedding and I couldn't be happier. No one will be able to tell and the dress plus alterations is under 300!! I like the first dress best as well - looks like it would be so flattering on anyone!
It seems from the camille dress that you'd love a satin, plain dress (please don't take that wrongly....plain as in lack of fluff and simple). I see no reason to not look for a cheaper alternative. Most BM dresses don't have the volume and train of the bridal dress, but the only you need worry about is how you feel!!! If you want it, DO IT. You'll be beautiful no matter what you choose
Go for it! No one will know the difference. It's worth it if it saves you money
I think its a great idea, in fact I started a thread about this yesterday. thats what i am doing, and a dressmaker is tweeking it here and there to make it look like my dream wedding dress....
my dream dress........£2,000
Bridesmaid dress altered....£200.............no contest
Alexia bridesmaid dress, ordered in Champagne

dressmaker will remove sash and add vintage lace to look like this
Luci Dibella Baby Doll
I also found an actual bridal dress at davids bridal:
VERY, VERY similar. all I would need to do is add the band of diamonds around the folded a-line and buttons down the back and it'd be almost the same dress! for less than HALF the camille dress. WOW.
@mrs.veach: I think it's a great idea! The DB dress is very similar and it's on sale- bonus! You can probably find some rhinestone embellishment on ebay or amazon, even your local fabric store. I'd go for the DB dress, especially because you can go into the store and try it on.

Okay, so I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with this dress from Camille. BUT I really don't want to spend this much money on a dress!

It is simple. So I thought I may could possibly get a similar bridesmaid dress in white. This will save money and also, I prefer less "poof". My favorite attributes of the dress are: the bow, the buttons down the back, the simple a-line fold with just a touch of bling, and of course the simplicity of the dress.
Here are the styles that I have found similar to this:

This has the button, and fold down a-line front. I could simply sew the diamond band that you can purchase by the yard online or at craft stores and use a sash to create the back bow.

This has the fold down a-line front, which I could also easily add the diamond band to and the back bow, but no buttons. (Possibly not too costly to get someone with experience to sew buttons down the back?)

What do you girls think and if you have any other suggestions to dresses that are similar to this, I am ALL ears.
