Does anyone know if satin-faced taffeta would be too light of a fabric for winter? I’m getting married in February 2010. It’s really important to me that my bridesmaids get to pick out their own dress and style – so we’ve gone with the Jim Hjelm collections. The problem is that I want them all to be in the same fabric so that the colors match. The dresses that we love the most are satin-faced taffeta – but I’m nto sure if it’s too light of a fabric.
Does anyone know about this and can give me some insight!

If I remember correctly, taffeta is a fairly heavy, stiff material, and I think satin is suitable year round. I don’t think you should have a problem material-wise, just make sure to pick colors that are appropriate to the season

I know nothing about fabric, but what December said does make sense. Can you maybe go to a bridal shop and feel some swatches of this type of fabric. Or even a fabric store?

I definitely agree that color is more important than fabric (in most cases – you wouldn’t want say, velvet, in July!)
