@NYBride_421:  It depends on where you order them from… Davids Bridal will take no time at all, however if you are planning to go designer, you’ll have to talk to the shop to know their time table.

It does the depend on the store and company you’ll get them from.  I like things done yesterday (to not feel too stressed -I really don’t like doing things last minute).

We got married in August and ordered the dresses in March.  We received them in May.  We scheduled pick-up in June.  And the fittings/hemming in July.

I ordered dresses from aregular old store that came in like a week — for a May 2013 wedding I got them in July. I really enjoy checking things off my to-do list so I was in a hurry, and then they started to sell out so I got them right away. Now everyone says I did it too early because the girls could gain weight in a year :(. I would say as long as you leave at least 6 weeks or so for alterations you should be fine.

The planner books always say about 6 months in advance.  I would ask the consultants when you go bridal gown shopping, they should know how long it takes to get in their stores!
