- Wedding: April 2011
Just thought I would share my story about why it is not good to wait until the last minute to do things.
When I went to order my wedding dress in October, I asked the bridal consultants when I needed to have my bridesmaid’s dress orders placed in order to receive them in time for my April 30th wedding. The store told me that I needed to have the orders place by Christmas to ensure they would arrive in plenty of time. That night, I emailed my girls to let them know that I needed their measurements by Christmas and that I would not be able to place the order until I had received all of them. I have 6 BMs and I got measurements right a way from 2 of the them. I reminded the others a time or two before Christmas and ended up with only half of the measurements on time. I am still waiting on one more BM to provide me with her measurements. Should have them by tomorrow.
I called today to check on the status of my dress and told the consultant that I would have my BM dress order in by Monday. She told me that currently Watters bridesmaid dresses are being shipped on May 1st. That obviously won’t work. She did say that we could try to rush order them and that the manufacture would let us know, within 3 days of placing the order, if they could get the dresses here in time for the wedding. I immediately called the BM that I am missing measurements from and she says she will get them for me tomorrow.
So we could very well be having to chose another BM dress. Ahh! How could I have been so nonchalant about the deadline?! Why didn’t I take her suggestion more seriously? We will see how this goes.
My advice to you… Don’t wait until the last minute. My FI and I have been engaged for 14 months. Up until now, I pictured the wedding as so far away. It is getting close and I need to stop slacking off!
