Hi Ladies! I need some help deciding on BM dresses! I know I want long, and gold for our formal October 2012 evening wedding. I am having 8 bridesmaids and I was originally thinking I wanted them in the same dress, but they've all voted on different ones and we haven't come to a clear winner! I need help from the Hive!

Which dress do you think would be the prettiest for multiple body types (from size 00 to size 20, 5' to 6')

    Dress A: Alfred Angelo 7017

Why not let them pick the style they like in the required color?

Size 00 and size 20 are not going to look their best in the same style dress.

I think you should choose a colour and let the BM's choose their style. I think it looks really good and everyone gets to choose something that flatters them.

Dress B is amazing!!!!  I almost let my girls get that.  I had a size 12 and a size 24 try on, looked great on both.  But we voted for coordinating dresses at Davids, and one of my girls got dress C.  She is a size 4, and its great on her.  My size 12 tried it, and it looked awful.  Just FYI!

I voted for A because I used to work for AA and that dress looked great on every body size. However girls with bigger busts may want to have the removable straps as an option so after ceremony/pictures they have them to throw on if they start to feel uncomfortable. (hook and eye on the inside of the dress)

The first 3 dresses dont have a lot of structure (ex. boneing) which is what is needed to help hold the girls up for 8 hours. The last one may, and may also look good on multiple body types.

    hope this helps

I like dress B. Dress A isn't bad, but I don't like the other two at all.

Maybe try picking a company (like AA) and just going with that. That's what my girls did. I gave them the Company/Color/Length, and they all picked the style that worked best.

Would you consider 7132 in Gold...(this is my bmaid dress and the price is great!!) I love Alfred Angelos Satin colors, but just a forwarning their Chiffon colors are VERY different in person than what you see online. I suggest you check out samples in store or order some swatches from their website.

The first two dresses were on my list and I ended up not liking them in person for two reasons, the chiffon color difference in person like mentioned above and it did not flatter my  size 24 MOH and the 2nd dress just felt too "promy" to me and it was SUPER big on the bottom, or at least the sample we tried.

    Best of Luck to you!

I think B and C look like they would be most flattering on most body types (this is coming from a size 12 woman with a large chest).

Thanks ladies! I'm so grateful for all your help! I think I may let them choose different dresses and even if the shades of gold are a little different, I think it will be okay. If the chiffon from Alfred Angelo is as different as you say it is CupCakeMeg, then it will probably be okay to mix the David's Bridal golden with the Alfred Angelo harvest gold. I am hoping to get some swatches together too.

Keep those opinions coming! The more, the better! Thanks eveyone! :)

I voted for Dress B.  My girls tried it on (they're also a variety of sizes: 4 to 16 and 4'10 to 5'9), and each one of them looked stunning.  We finally decided that althought it was beautiful, it wasn't the right look for my wedding.

Dress D could also work very well, though.  That was one of our final four choices.  It looked fabulous on everyone.  That being said, they preferred a very similar Alfred Angelo one over it because the AA one had a sweetheart neckline (flattering on every bodytype) and a corset back.  I can find the link for you if you'd like.

With that range of sizes and that many girls, I'd let them each choose the style they like best.  But if you want them all in the same dress, I'd go for #1 because chiffon is more universally flattering than shiny fabrics.

I vote that they get to pick their own dress. They'll probably be a lot happier if they can pick something that flatters their body type. Also some girls might not be comfortable in a strapless gown.

I took my BM's shopping last weekend, and although very different shapes, they both chose the F13974 dress (in apple red).

I think this dress looks pretty Blah on the model, but looks stunning in person. There are pics on the David's bridal website that give a better picture of it on different girls.

I voted for this one even though it seems to be in the minority.

@julies1949: I voted for A if you're going to do just one, but I agree that it may be better to let them choose a style. With so many girls I think a wider selection is very appealing.

It looks kind of weird on the model, but it looked really great on my girls.  See?

I've tried B on before when dress shopping as a BM for my friend's wedding. It's GORGEOUS on. I am a size 18 and 5'11 and it suited me as well as my size 6 and 5'5 friend. Our bride went with something different but I still dream of that dress!!

It seems ilke none of these shapes would be too horrible on a particular body type, but it's so nice to have all of your input, ladies! Thank you! I'm preparing a little poll for the bridesmaids themselves just to gauge what they think! I'm betting that there won't be a clear favorite among them either!

My sisters and I wore a short version of dress A for our mother's wedding. My oldest sister and I are size 0, but my other sister was about a 20 or something like that at the time. This isn't the best picture, but it's the best I could find of us. Hope this helps! :)Bridesmaid Dress Poll - Indecision! : wedding bridesmaid dress october 2012 1 poll Example

I think dress B is beautiful , but i voted for dress D because I think it will be the most flatering for all the body types. Even tho i am a UK size 10 not sure what that is in US, I would go with the dress that flatters the larger ladies the most.

I think you should allow them each to choose their own style. You could pick a brand, say AA, and have them all choose from only AA dresses. That way the shade of gold will be the same on all of them. For dress A you can probably get that sash in gold as well if you don't want one to be wearing a sash when the rest aren't.

My 6 BMs range from less than 00 to 24, and they are all wearing different styles of AA. They all picked beautiful dresses and I'm glad that they'll all feel comfortable in what they're wearing. As a size 14-16 dress myself, I can tell you that the empire waist line is definitely not flattering on me, so if I had to pick one of the above choices without trying them on I'd say D would fit the best on all body types.

Alright, I created the poll for my bridesmaids in an email and have only heard back from 4, but they're all choosing different ones! It's cracking me up! I should have known my girls would have such different taste!

I think if we do several choices of dresses, then we might have to do the black sash in the same color as the dress so it's not a huge stand-out. Would that dress still be pretty in solid gold with the sash in gold?

My daughter had B for her wedding. It flattered both a size 10/12 small chested 17 year old girl and also a size 16 and 18 larger chested women (26 and 30 years old).  The ladies loved how the dress felt, the fact that it had pockets too was a plus.  They wore it in Clover and it got several compliments on how they all looked. This dress looks nice as they walk down the aisle as it has detail in the back that is beautiful.
