For a wedding in August of this year....when should I (the bridesmaid) start to worry about the bride making up her mind, etc...(especially since I KNOW alterations will need to be made??) (considering it will have to be ordered off the internet??) I would assume, pretty soon???

Alterations usually only takes a few weeks, so I think the bride has plenty of time.  The worry is normally the time it takes for some manufacturers to deliver the dresses.

If the bride hasn't made a decision yet, maybe as the BM, you can talk to her or the MOH to see what they are thinking and maybe you can remind them about timing issues.

If you are having somethin made (like Watters, for instance) it can take months to get the dresses.  If that is the case, you may getting close to the deadline for ordering.

If you are going with something from Ann Taylor, JCrew, or Nordstrom, then it takes less than a week.  Also if you buy from Ann Taylor or something like that, alterations may not be required.

I would talk to the bride and see what she's thinking.  Maybe you can offer to help.

Thank you for the advice! ;-)

It's an Alexia design dress that will be ordered from Netbrides.com for a great price.(at least I hope so unless she changes her mind for the 3rd time!!) It's the shipping and alterations timing I worry about...Too bad there's no store near me that I can just go and try on.

that's really weird, i was under the impression that netbride gives you a 4 month timeframe (though i've heard it usually doesn't take that long). i have a september wedding and we're ordering them from netbride next monday (after the last bm gets her act together!). so i might gently prod her...

props to you for being a bridesmaid on the ball!!!
