I was told 3 to 5 months to order before the wedding, so that you have time for alterations. That being said, I took my bridesmaids to Davids Bridal in July 2012, when my wedding was in October 2012. The DB I went to said that they would be coming in around the first week of October, which meant no alterations.

Luckily, the dresses actually came in within the early/mid August. So, there was actually plenty of time for alterations! Anyway, I think going in April would be fine if you’re having your wedding in October.

My girls have until the end of the month to order theirs (Dessy). I was told it could take up to 6 months to get them in and since we’re all tiny short girls, they will need alterations for sure…

we just went bridemaid dress shopping, and picked out our dresses, the sales women said that we need to order by 6 months, because that way the dresses will come in 4-6 month and they need about a month before for any alterations. We are going to order our dresses the end of March, we picked a date of everyone to go and order the dresses, I think this is the best way, I know at the store that we are ordering all bridemaids need to have there deposits down and orders put in for the whole order to be sent to the designer and this is to make sure that all the dresses are cut from the same fabric and dont look different at all.  Hope this helps
