Personally I like the way the satin photographs better if that helps any!

I agree that the color looks richer in satin, but I’d go with chiffon since it’s more flattering/forgiving and seems less bridesmaidy.

I went through the same thing and we ended up picking satin. It looks nicer in photographs, and feels nicer too. It gets so washed out looking, like the dresses are old

I think the Satin is beautiful but its not the most forgiving nor flaterring on all body types, if that is a concern for your girls. I started looking at Satin only dresses, but then hated the look on my Maid/Matron of Honor who is a beautiful and just so happens to be +size. Tried the Chiffon and it laid nicely against her! I was sold! I also found that the colors in the Chiffon material seemed “Flat” so I am opt’ing for a more vivid color! Since I was going for grey! Best of Luck!!! =)

**ADDED** Oh and I totally agree on sticking to ONE fabric! I too thought about my dress material but, all in all, it shouldnt matter, you should stand out the most!!

I think the satin looks more elegant.  Also, the chiffon looks a bit “washed out” and may not appear as nice in photos.

I like the chiffon, that’s what I’m using for mine.. Also depending on when the wedding is the chiffon would probably be a lot cooler.

Judging off photographs, and my experience trying on Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid dresses- I would go with the satin…  good luck!

Can you ask them to look online and tell you which dresses they think they might like (even though they may feel different in person). This way you could see if they are leaning more towards styles that come in satin or chiffon.

I did eggplant/dark purple dresses, and I wasn’t a big fan of the Alfred Angelo chiffon colors.  The satin looks much better and richer, but I always knew I’d go with the more forgiving and less bridesmaidy chiffon fabric.  So AA was out of the running and I ended up going with Belsoie dresses.  Their chiffon color was brighter and had a shimmer to it – the dresses photographed beautifully!!  Can you look at other designers?  I compared a lot – they all are so different.

Some of my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are silk taffeta, and in my opinion look a lot better on all sorts of body types than satin.  But that short satin one looks beautiful in the pictures.

I looked at Alfred Angelo bridesmaids dresses today in the store! First off, goodluck finding a dress… this is so hard! Geez.

I do agree with you that I like the satin fabric because it makes the color pop. In your particular color I like the satin. However, I’m choosing fucshia and although I would prefer satin, the chiffon looks great as well (so we’re going with a chiffon style).

I think it just depends on what you like. I honestly think the chiffon is better because it’s more flowy! But that is better for a summer wedding (like mine). So I really can’t decide. Haha, sorry.
