No one can tell you who you have to include in your wedding party. If you're closer to the sister than the step-sister you can choose to just include one. That said, you have to keep in mind that, in doing so, you are going to hurt feelings (particularly those of the step-sister). Just make sure you think about the can of worms you'll potentially open through your choices.
can you ask one to be in the wedding and ask the other to be a hostess?

Okay since my brothers wedding back in 2000 Ive decided I wanted to keep this going...
I was my sister in laws Jr. Bridesmaid and I told my self Id always want to involve the sister of my TO-BE in my own wedding as well.
Well to put it lightly their step sister isnt that kind--given the fact that we barely have any relationship-the mother practically HATES the daughter (the blood relative-the actual sister) she treats her like garbage mind you these girls are 15 and 14.
Well when I mentioned to our fiance and his father of my newly tradition his father without skipping a beat says "You cant have Anna (the sister) without Haley (the step sister) because I wont deal with my wifes drama-shes gunna make life hell"
C'mon!!!!
I was livid-hes helping us with a photographer(3 hr session) and he says hes paying for a cruise but We're a 10-10-10 wedding and he hasnt even spoken to us about it since!!!! Other than that its MY money paying for the wedding minus my Parental Figures 5G's
I didnt mean for this to go into a rant but serioulsy-what do i do?
Do i stand up and say something or no?
OH! not to mention I have a MOH and 2 bridemaids(the sisters)
and my Fiance only has his Bro as a Best Man because his 2 other groomsmen cant afford a suit since he is buying his and the other is in Kuwait
and as OCD as I get thats going to drive me bonkers with the un evenness.
