I gave them jewelry (I know, typical, but it's tried and true; they all wear the pieces fairly often) and pretty slippers from Cinnamon Girl that they could change into after the ceremony. It was an outdoor reception, so these were guaranteed not to stick in the grass and they loved them!
When I was in my MOH's wedding, she gave us these awesome tote bags with our initials so we could haul all our stuff around for getting ready and the pre-wedding photos. They were filled with girly stuff like bath salts...and jewelry!
im doing the larget tote bags w/ their initials, with some flip flops, and some jewels for the day of, and some other mini goodies.
i got the link for the bags from one of the bees. :) i did the pink ones
http://www.jiffyshirts.com/bags/tote/harriton/M915/?idcust=102107513
great deal!
Wow! Those Jiffy bags are a super good deal. Here is another link to mongrammed bags I thought were cute.
How did you monogram the Jiffy Totes? I didn't see that option on the website...did you take them somewhere to get it done?
I wrote a post recently on my gifts to my wedding party. http://www.weddingbee.com/2007/09/10/thank-you-gifts/
As a BM, here are some ideas of gifts I'd like myself..
fancy stationery paper, jewelry(especially nice if it matched the dress but also something i'd be likely to wear again), PJs or robe, gourmet goods, anything nice for my home like plates, cups, sephora gift certificate, etc..
I had a lot of fun figuring out what to get my girls.. Good luck!
The fave gift that I have received has been a gift cert for a massage after being a bridesmaid :)
For my girls, I made a "my favorites" bag of stuff I love and also some Hawaii essentials (we had a DW): cute tote bag, nice set of notecards, sunblock, delicious smelling lotion, box of chocolates and a pashmina that they could wear at the wedding. I think that's it, can't remember what else :)
Oh - and I gave my MOH a Tiffany necklace.
The bride at one of the weddings I was in paid for my our bridesmaid dresses! It was a very nice (but expensive!) gift since there were a whole bunch of us!
My wedding is far away, but I already started to think about gifts. I really like these personalized jewelry pouches found at www.shoploveme.com

I think it's perfect for traveling since accessories always get tangled up. It might be cute to add a piece of jewelry in the pouch, or wrap it up with personalized luggage tags.
I also like these bookbags for $69 found at www.containerstore.com We all know how much your feet can hurt after walking in heels, so this is a great way to carry your sneakers.

I gave my BM pearl earrings and necklaces and big, fluffy robes (the Cloud line from Victoria's Secret). I do think that, if you can afford it, paying for the dresses is one of the nicest things you can do. We paid for our MOH's dress.
I haven't baught them yet but I'm thinking of doing mongramed compacts or business card cases (with a mirror). www.redenvelope.com has tons of options (its great for gifts for people you don't know what to buy too!)
it's a little early for me, but i've already been thinking about bridesmaids gifts too. i think definitely so far i'm going to make little scrapbooks for each of them (like mrs violet
), and since i designed my bridesmaids dresses (and my wedding dress), also draw each of them an illustration of them in their dress or something like that? i of course want to buy them something else too..but i have no idea what to get them since all of them have everything and don't need things like robes/personalized anything/etc.
There are lots of great personalized Bridesmaid gifts at www.thebrideandgroomshop.com in their BrideShop section at really affordable prices. Tote bags, jewelry pouches, etc. They carry those big totes too for $20 --personalized free.
Here's a thought if you are trying to find a place to buy things...
We have a great art festival in town ever year, so I'm waiting to see if there is any great jewelry there that would be good for the day of the wedding and also some other handmade items. It's a great way to support local artists as well as find unique items! If you live in MN it's in Red Wing, MN on Oct. 13 & 14 this year and is always right in downtown Red Wing.
my wedding day isn't til next year, so there's a good chance i might change my mind, but here is my list of things i'm getting my MOH and BMs:
heart-shaped compact mirror (ever since i saw them i knew i had to get them! what beautiful girl doesn't need a mirror?)
custom made photobooks. the bms will get a 6x6 size, and my moh will get the 8.5x11 size....she's my best friend and we have soooooooo many pix together!
a gc from macys to use for their wedding jewelry. i would pick them out but i would rather they pick something they really love and will wear again later.
i will attach a thank you card and give them their gifts during our bridesmaid luncheon i'll be hosting.

I got my BMs this travel bag in medium from LL Bean, super convenient and they all love to travel: http://tinyurl.com/2tus7u, I will probably fill it with travel-size goodies as well.
I'm also fortunate that a good friend is a talented jewelry maker and is making fresh water pearl drop necklaces for each of the ladies in my bridal team! Check out her site: http://www.katessilverlining.com
I came across another wedding blogging site, and a bride posted a site called "mckaylasfavors.com" .She recommended a couple of ideal gifts for bridesmaides. So ,I checked it out and I found a cute "Picnic Backpack".It had a setting for four.I paired it with a piece of jewelry and my bridesmaides loved it,they were so excited. If everything went as smooth as that ,I would not have been as stressed as I was!![]()
Good Luck to future brides![]()
I didnt like the cheezy "traditional" monogrammed bridesmaid totes and stuff, so I just paid for their dresses and got them matching faux-pearl necklaces. I also paid for their hair and makeup.
I kinda regretted it afterwards... I mean, I do love my BMs, but after shelling out over $250 on each girl, I expected at least some thoughtful gifts, but I was pretty disappointed with when I received a $30 bowl off our registry. I think I'm just stingy.
so my advice is, don't go overboard with gifts! Give something that the girls would appreciate, but (in my own opinion) you shouldn't spend more than you need - weddings are already too expensive in themselves and you dont need to spend all this money on something that may not be appreciated.
Bridesmaids are not suppose to give gifts by etiquette standards - their gift to you is being in your wedding!
as for the Jiffy Bags...
one of the BM's mom's owns a screen printing/embr. company, so she's going to do that for me. Any local place should let you bring in your item, you don't have to purchase there.
I think that my BM gift might be a bit extravagant, but I LOVE these girls, and budgeted it in early... We're having a fall wedding, and before I bought my dress I bought the most amazing knee length white peacoat to wear over my dress, and then about 6 months later the same company came out with the exact coat (a little shorter) in brown (our colors are blue and brown!!!) So I bought (6) additional peacoats for my (5) bridesmaids and (1) jr bridesmaid. They are going to love them, they will come in handy at the reception, Brown is a good everyday coat color, and they will make for some ADORABLE photos on wedding day!!!
I think the best gift I received being a bridesmaid was one of these this beautiful titanium rings with a genuine pink sapphire. We all called them our promise to be friends forever rings. I wear mine every day!
I am getting them Tote Bags, Different Body Sprays and lip glosses, a vera bradley wristlet that matches and some other things.
<div style="margin: 0px"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 12px"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10px">The BEST gift that I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10px">received<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: 10px"> (and would recommend) was a vintage clutch. <div style="font: normal normal normal 10px/normal Verdana; min-height: 12px; margin: 0px">

I wanted to give my BM's something special that they wouldn't normally buy for themselves. I stumbled upon www.yoyosilver.com one day and they sell authentic Tiffany jewelry at a fraction of the cost. I am buying each girl a tiffany bangle in silver. Classic and elegant, I'm sure they'll all get a lot of wear out of them.
my BMs are coming in from all over the US. i'm making each of them a little "emergency/survival kit" with things like a manicure set, deodorant, bandaids, hairspray, lipgloss, gum, etc. all tucked into red & black travel bags that came with a matching clutch. (you can google "bridesmaid survival kit" to get more suggestions)
i'm also getting each BM custom-designed chuck taylors and jewelry sets to wear with their dresses. and then stuffing all of that into cute canvas totes that i got on sale at bath & body works for only $10 each and they're HUGE!
HTH! ![]()
I love the idea of a survival kit!
I'm leaning towards personalized bags for my girls as they are all so different and are at very different stages in their lives.
They will for sure all be getting custom (made by me) necklaces (none of them wear earrings!) to co-ordinate with their jewelry.
My gift to my 3 bridesmaids will be dress, jewelry, hair and make up for the day.
I gave my bridesmaids personalized letterpress stationery from the amazing, Atlas & Campbell. My girls loved this gift. It is a unique and useful present - not to mention so pretty.
Atlas & Campbell is an amazing new letterpress company. They will not only help you with bridemaids gifts, but they will also design all your wedding stationery needs.
Check out their blog at: http://atlasandcampbell.blogspot.com/
I recently bought my bridesmaids these gorgeous Robes. I have seen them on wedding blogs and fell in love with them a while ago! And i previously bought one for me before and so i know they will just love them.
I'll just tell y'all what I'm planning on buying my bridesmaids. I want to do a gift bag with a few goodies in there, and this is what's on my shopping list:
*Swarovski beaded bracelets off Etsy

*Personalised compact mirrors with each BM's name on it

*Cute sleeping mask with 'fab bridesmaid' on it from confetti.co.uk

*Personalised pink damask drink flasks with diamante initial on them

and for my MOH- all this plus a Vera Wang silver plated pic frame from her wedding 'love knots' range with a poem saying I owe her a pic from the day
I'm thinking of getting my BMs some cute handmade jewelry that they can wear to the wedding and after. And then I'm thinking of getting personalized totes and make up bags to go with it.

I'm at the point in my wedding planning where I'm starting to think about what gifts to get my bridesmaids. I know this has been discussed before on Weddingbee, but I wanted to start a discussion to get some ideas going. What would you love to get as a bridesmaid? What are some unique ideas? I'll get the ideas flowing...
I thought a practical gift would be Vera Bradley curling iron covers, to slip your straightener or curling iron in when you're traveling so you don't scorch or melt anything in your luggage. What are your ideas?
