I have no idea what the typical cost is, but you might want to ask your bridesmaids what they’re comfortable spending first.

My BM dresses were $250, but I paid for them.  It seems most people don’t want to spend more than $100-$150

@Principessa Bunny:  I think it depends. For us we are bugdeting around $150. I’m keeping in mind that all of my bridesmaids are students or are just starting out and paying off college debt. So I’m asking them to wear a shoe and jewelery they already have, or if they want to they can buy something, they are responsible for their gown and their hotel room if they need a room. (Most of their parents live in the area so they have the option of staying at home as well)

@Principessa Bunny:  Ah, I see. In the US, typically bridesmaids pay for their own dresses. In the UK, the bride typically pays. If you’re comfortable paying, spend what you’re comfortable with. I’m sure your bridesmaids would appreciate it. Not sure why it matters what the typical cost is if you’re paying–why not just find a dress(es) you like/they like/are flattering/you can afford and pay for them?

@Principessa Bunny:

no,were im from we never go over $100 for a dress if bridesmaids are paying,if we want a dress more then $100 us brides should pay.

$200 or more to have a bridesmaid pay for a dress that they will probly never were again imo is very rude

but if you are paying then you can pick what you want and however much you want to spend 🙂

but i stll think $200 or more for a dress is crazy,there are so many pretty dresses much cheaper

We didn’t really have a budget but I felt that anything under $300 was reasonable (my parent’s were paying for them). We found the dresses in store for $250 but ordered them online for $180 each. 🙂

My girls are paying for their dresses – we are renting them $50 each. One girl thinks she might want to purchase hers, which is possible for $150.

Granted this was 2 years ago now, my BM’s dresses were $100.00.  The only dress I paid for was my niece due she was my JR BM.

By BM paid for their own dresses, minus one of the girls.  The original budget was $100-$120 but ended up with buying a dress for $175.

@Principessa Bunny:  $250 is a lot. my girls asked me to keep it under $200, and i looked at the cheapest ones ($100-$140 range) and i just couldn’t find anything I liked. I found something for $190 that everyone agreed on.

We are on a budget so £50 per dress.
