    @TrousseauHorse:  when I had a shorter dress for a wedding, we all had tO get them the same length off of the floor so all the hems match.

    I told my bridesmaids to do whatever they wanted with the hem. The dress is going to look different on people o different heights anyway.

    It was fine. It didn’t look bad. We all did the hems after we bought our shoes though. I was the tallest, so they left my dress as is and hemmed the others around minE.

    I don’t think any of my girls got their dresses hemmed. It doesn’t really matter in the long run, as long as they are comfortable in the dress.

    If you really want them to look super cohesive, the measurement off of their knee would look best. It would look weird to have different height girls wearing dresses that all hit the same spot from the floor.

    I’ve never had to change my hem as a BM and I didn’t have my BMs match theirs either. Their hems are a bit different but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Do they have their dresses yet? If so, is it really that noticeable?

    I would let them choose the hem that they are comfortable with. Some girls don’t like dresses cut above their knees, other won’t wear them below. As long as they look proportiate to each girl, does the exact hem really matter?

    I have never been asked to hem my dress in anyway… my girls wore short dresses and when they asked me about the hem I asked them to please not go more than 2 inches above the knee. I think some girls would like to have a SHORT dress but it really isn’t wedding appropriate in my opinion.

    I’d just have the hem all hit the same place on their own body, regardless of height. All of my girls’ dresses hit just below the knee.

    @TrousseauHorse:  i told my BMs it was their choice if they decided to get it hemmed.  one wants it to hit above the knee and the other is ok with it at the knee.

    it doesn’t matter to me.

    I would say something like “1-3 inches above the knee”

    @Gemstone:  Yes, this.

    OP, I’m confused as to what you’re asking. You’ll want the dresses hemmed according to each girls’ height. Telling them “x inches off the floor” is going to make for some weird lengths between the heights.
