We are going to try on dresses in a couple of weeks. The appt is at 2pm, so I was thinking of maybe doing dinner with them also. I love to go out to dinner and just have a good time but usually that means each family pays for their own. Is that tacky? It isn’t a bridesmaid luncheaon and for dinner I’m sure the spouses would come along too as well as children. Being on a budget we can’t afford to buy dinnner for 4 families.
Is it tacky to go out to dinner after a wedding related outing and have everyone pay for themselves? I feel like it is, but my sister will also be in town and is only staying the one night so it would be nice to go out. My other alternative is have the fiance barbeque while we are out since that would be a lot cheaper. What do you think?

I say BBQ. Especially if children are involved. (Although you didn’t menion ages.) But they would probably prefer to run around and goof off, rather than be on their best manners. Also, if they’re travelling it’s nice to let them get some exercise before havingto be couped up in a car or plane etc.
Could you just take the bms out to lunch, just before dress shopping? Then do the bbq after? That way you can get the lunch out, and inexpensive dinner.

I also vote BBQ. Assuming your bms are paying for their dresses, it’d be nice if you could treat them to a meal and a BBQ would be a pretty inexpensive way of doing it.

I think it should be fine. Especially if you’re on a budget. Don’t almost all girls love to shop, and almost nearly as many love to eat. lol

Thank you for your input. I talked to the fiance and he has no problem barbequeing that day for us. We already keep a pretty tight freezer full of meat so I will just make some sides, buy some chips and dips and voila we’ll have ourselves a "Bridesmaid Appreciation Dinner". LOL Besides, then we can spring for some booze too.
