Do they have to match? We wore sarees for a friend's wedding, but 3 different colours and it looked beautiful!

I'd really like them to match. The girls can certain personalize their blouses, but I'm big on the matching.
hi you could totally while in india buy the main fabric of your bridesmaid saree (satin, lace, ...) than buy saree borders and you would only have to stitch the main fabric to the border. :-) easy, matching your team colors, not that expensive tadaaaaa
Where are you going in India? I just got back from India in December for my shopping and had a lot of trouble finding even TWO matching bridesmaid saris in Bombay. However when I was with my fiance's family in Gujurat we went shopping Surat and was able to find up to ten matching saris to make our table overlays. They were cheap, but that's the only place I was able to find all the same color and design - so maybe they have them in the more expensive saris too? I wish I had bought my bridesmaid saris there, because I had to settle for complementing saris instead of same color/design.
You could try on ebay? But you may be better off getting them in India. They would probably cost less money?
I looked for sarees in India, and try going to wholesale places. They usually have it or can order it for you. Another idea would be one of local's that sell sarees or clothing business in their house. We ordered our sarees through a lady in dallas, and she was able to get 8 matching exact sarees with personalized blouses. Another option is facebook. So many of those sellers can and will get you any saree you want and in quantity. PM if you want some more details! Goodluck!!
Hey i have actually been a bridesmaid a few times and most of the weddings had over 10 girls and all the brides bought the BM sari's in India. Where in India are you planning on going? If you go to ahmedabad, you can go to the new central mall in the ambawadi area and whatever you like they can place an order and get as many sari's as you need. Also, when you go shopping on CG road most of the smaller places will also be able to place orders. It's the bigger stores such as Deepkala and aso palav that might not be able to since they are designer and 1 of a kind pieces.
Also, I know you read some bad reviews on Utsav, but I think if you email them ahead of time before you place the order you should be able to get what you need in the quatities you want.
Hope that helps and good luck :)

I've actually had really great experiences with Utsav, and would recommend them. As long as you TOTALLY IGNORE their shipping timeline and expect everything to arrive in about a month or so (the express thing is a lie!) then you should be fine. The sari quality will also vary, but in general, you get what you pay for. You can certainly get a nice sari for less than $100, including stitched blouses. I would recommend getting a "faux" saree, I think that their "art silk" ones look/feel cheaper but their faux georgette/whatever are actually really nice (I have ordered from them a lot for my wedding and then later for gifts for mother-in-law). I can answer any specific questions, but I know your pain, it's hard to find matching stuff in stores since often they are not expecting that demand.
Utsav -- I think I'd go with mechibaby's advice. Also, don't trust them when they say silk. Sometimes they mean "cheap polyester that looks like silk in photos." I ordered two saris that were expensive enough that I thought I might wear them for my wedding -- but when I got them, I realized they would be perfect cut up into altar and table cloths. ;)
I am so tempted to order from Utsav cause its easy and I like the selection, but have you ordered a faux one first hand and been ok with it?
As for where we're going in India, we only have 10 short days are going to Delhi and Punjab. And in that time I have to buy all my bridal wear as well! Yikes!
It is easier to get the same Sari in different colors. But, if you are going to India I would deffintiely wait to get them there. You will have som any options and you can order them all in the same color. As long as you give them a week or two, they can do it. I am refering to Dehli or Bombay.
If your are going to Dehli, then go to Frontier Fashions. I bought 12 saris all in one evening there. These guys are pros. I suggest going to Karol Bagh rather than the mall. Same shops, half the price.
You can go to the Indian shops that sell by the yard. Get some contrasting material for the blouses as well.
I had the same problem with getting 7 matching sarees for my bridesmaids. I would definitely recommend emailing UTSAV before your girls order them JUST to make sure they are able to make enough. I ended up using CBazaar.com which was a complete nightmare. One of my girls did not get her saree and they have not responded to any of my emails. Good luck!
so this is going to sound really strange.. but Jo ann's fabric store has sari material! I know this because I recently bought some to help my daughter make a sari for a paper doll! Check them out.. I saw 3 colors.. 1 was pink, 1 blue (like peacock colors) and 1 was yellows/oranges.

Hi Everyone,
So I had perused this board and was all set to get my 9 matching bridesmaids sarees from utsav until I googled/facebooked them and was bombarded by a trillion negative reviews! I wanted to keep the cost of the sarees and blouses under $100 US so Utsav seemed liek a great choice - now I'm stuck.
I'm going to India in May (for 8 days only) but I can't imagine they will have 9 sarees available anywhere that are identical.
Any suggestions?
