Maybe this is a silly question... But I've been wondering- what makes the bride's bouquet different from that of the bridesmaids? Is it just bigger? I'm trying to DIY my own flowers... which is difficult since I know nothing about them (but am working on a floral budget that puts any florist out of the question.) Any help is appriciated :)

I know for mine it is larger than the bridemaid and has some more expensive flowers. I am using all orchids so mine and FI's boutineere are a different type than the rest of the bridal party.

Mine was bigger and made with lighter colored flowers--whites and soft roses and blushes. My girls' bouquets were a little smaller and had more vibrant colors and different flowers. We DIy'd ours, but we used silks cuz I have some fierce allergies.

For my wedding my bouquet was bigger and I had fresh flowers, whereas by MOH's had silk flowers that were already in a bouquet that I found at Hobby Lobby.

Mine was bigger and it also had some more expensive flowers.  Mine was red roses, white calla's and stephanotis.  My girls had red roses and white button mums and a few white berry's.

I think it all depends on what you want! Normally the brides bouquet is larger and a little nicer. My girls are wearing hot pink dresses so I'm giving them white roses and I'm going to carry hot pink roses!

My bouquet is going to be larger and have a mix of flowers, where my girls are only going to have one specific flower in their bouquets.

Most of the time it's bigger. Mines will have bling and my girls will not.

i think it depends on your preference. like others said, usually the bride's is bigger. my girl's dresses are kind of busy (floral and lots of color), so i gave them one type of flower for their bouquet and white, while mine is going to be pink and white with lots of different flowers, because my dress is a lot less busy.

Mine is bigger and more detailed. We all have black magic roses, but I have more of them. My bouquet is surrounded with black ostrich feathers, theirs have some looped bear grass. Mine has rhinestones in the flowers, theirs dont. Mine has a black satin wrap with blue pearl-headed pins, theirs are going to have blue wraps with no decoration.

I think generally the BM bouquets are smaller, simpler versions of the brides bouquet. So where the bride's bouquet might have 4 or 5 different types of flowers, the BM bouquets may only have 1 or 2 types of flowers - sort of the "main" flowers so to speak. Does that make sense?

But you can totally do anything you want. I've seen gorgeous photos of brides and BM bouquets that all look totally different and look amazing when photographed together.

Thanks so much everyone- you really helped out! I think I'm going to give the BMs smalled bouquets with peach flowers in one color (since they have dark pink/raspberry colored dresses) and then I'll have 2 or 3 different flowers in mine, with varying colors... Now to just figure out what kinds of flowers!

Usually the Bride's is bigger. I want real flowers and they are expensive, so they will have large ivory calla lillies. Mine will have smaller callas with a few stargazers. I will also have some kind of bling in mine.

Mine was larger and had white roses, also more greenery. The BM's had smaller bouquets of red roses and greenery. That was the big difference for us. We also did them ourselves. If you want any pics or advice, feel free to PM me. I've done flowers before and am doing a friend's bouquets in a few weeks. She has 9 BM's!

My flower colors are green and cream. My bouquet will be bigger and also have accents of pink to be a little different. My FI bout will also have pink.

It was my way of getting a little pink somewhere in the wedding!

Your bouquet should be slightly larger and unique.

    I think size and color.

I'm DIYing our bouquets as well and saving more than a 1/4 cost of what the cheapest I found was. I love flowers but don't really care to pay that much.

My colors are (fancily) candy apple red, light citrus green and fresh linen white. Hehe.Anyway my bouquet will be red & white (FI's tie is red, flower girls will have red sash, RB red tie). BMs will probably be green & white.

I'll be using basically the same main flowers but just in diff colors.

P.S. A huge savings for me is purchasing from a wholesale florist rather than your local flower shop. And my wholesale florist also had tons of floral accessories, flower girl baskets, vases, etc. WAY cheaper than at craft stores.
