This will be both mine and fiancee’s second marriage. He has two daughters from his first marriage. My question is how far before wedding date do you shop for and purchase dresses? One daughter is 14 and the other is 19. They are plus size girls so I worry about buying their dresses too soon and then they gain weight. The older daughter has depression issues and her weight goes back and forth. They live with their mom not with us so I don’t see them very often to even talk to them about this. Thanks for anyone’s help.

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
Bridesmaids dresses can take as long as a wedding dress! I’d say order them 5 months in advance, just so you have time for alterations.

I think the norm is 4 to 6 months out. Hopefully their weight won’t change much once you purchase them. GL!

5-6 months out for a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress, that way if they need altered they have time for it. = )

I’d suggest buying them in a bigger size (or two) and then have them altered as the wedding date gets closer. Keep in mind that BM’s dresses can be like bridal dresses and sizes differ (BM sizes need to be a couple more than street clothes size).
