not at all...I have at least one fried who did exactly that. Are you planning to wear it in a color or have it made in white or ivory. A word of warning, many designers charge extra to have it made in a traditional bridal color, I guess just b/c they know they can get away with it. I think my friend ended up paying an extra $100 which still made it much cheaper than most "wedding" gowns.
I think it's a great idea because there are some great options out there for not as much $$. Do you want to show us the dresses you found?
If you love the dress, it doesn't matter if its categorized as a "wedding dress" or "bridesmaids" dress. You are lucky that you found a dress that you love (and that is beautiful, I'm sure!) and it will be cheaper than what would be a wedding dress, simply because of the name.
I say go for it! Why not? I think it's very nice and if you like it and you are comfortable in it, then why not?
I really love the first dress! Who cares if it is categorized as a bridesmaids dress! If you love it than it is all the matters. Plus, for such a great price you can spend some extra money on accessories and shoes!
I LOVE that first dress! I say go for it, you are very luck you found a dress you love and like others have said that money could be spent elsewhere. How fun would it be to get some really nice jewelry to go with the dress or fun shoes that you'll want to wear often.?
Definitely NOT taboo to wear a bridesmaids dress as your wedding dress. The wedding industry is constantly charging more for things just because they have the label "bride" or "wedding" in front of them. The only thing that matters is that you love the dress and feel beautiful in it!
Heck yeah you can wear a bridesmaid dress as your wedding dress! That first gown is gorgeous & your guests will be none the wiser. Go for it :)
GO TO NORDSTROMS.COM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid $180 and my alterations will be pretty inexpensive because I am having them done at one of their stores.
I also heard good things at JC Penney.
Nicole Miller makes a line for them.
I had this same idea-- Jim Hjelm's bridesmaids dresses could easily pass for a wedding dress! Gorgeous! I bet some wouldn't even know if you didn't tell them!
I agree without sunflwra. If you didn't tell someone they'd never know the difference.
Wear the one you like more. I think your lucky and smart to find a cheaper wedding dress!
They are beautiful. Who cares if they are bridesmaids dresses? Remember it is your wedding, your day! Chose whichever makes you smile the most. I am planning on having a dress made for me and it will be in who knows what color. I plan on being able to wear it again, when my fiance and I go out and get dressed up!

Hello Bees,
I have been looking at Bridesmaid Dress and found one that I love and has the look I want but it is a Bridesmaids dress and A LOT less. I also found a wedding dress I loved but it is A LOT more. To me a nice dress that has the looking I want is more important then the cost. But I have friends that can look past that it is a bridesmaids dress. I just can't see spending 1000.00 on a dress. Is it really that taboo to have a bridesmaids dress as a wedding dress?
