Well, you could put in an etsy request for someone to make your dream dresses! That would definitely solve the problem :)
I don't know about settling. Each of my girls is picking out her own dress, so I'm settling for whatever they choose and feel most happy with!
don't settle... i think it's cute but if you think you're settling keep looking babes!!
I agree...don't settle! I love those dresses with more detail like the ones from Nordstrom and Anthro. There's gotta be something perfect out there!
Ugh, this is not what I wanted to hear! I wanted to hear, "That dress is great, you aren't settling!" I am so drained from this whole process, trying to satisfy my maids and my mom (she's the worst with her modesty requirements)... if you guys want to find me the perfect dress, have it, but I don't have it in me anymore!! I really do feel like the Jim Hjelm dress would be great, too.
@cinemaparadiso, I don't really want to do an Etsy request because I would prefer something that can be tried on beforehand. Also, Etsy dresses are usually out of our budget, and if they were within our budget I'd wonder about the quality.
I agree, if you feel like you are settling, definitely keep looking!
This dress sorta resembles dress #4 in your post and could be sized to fit all your BM's!

Some other possible dresses that might fit your criteria:

Good luck with finding the perfect dresses!! :)
Why do you feel like you're settling? Do your BMs like it? I think their opinions matter the most in this case. They're the ones wearing the dress after all.
@danielle... I assume your budget is $75 or so? I have seen dresses on etsy for under that price that were really cute! And I understand about the trying on, but they're making it to your measurements!
However... other options:
I totally understand where youre coming from! I would be nervous ordering a dress from etsy with no way to try them on or return. Im also having a hard time finding bridesmaid dresses I like. Im very against bridesmaid dresses that look like the "typical bridesmaid" dress. There is not a lot of great variety out there. I keep hoping something will pop up. I know some girls do not care how the bridesmaid dresses look, but I care alot.
Maybe the only reason the ladies said dont settle is because your new choice is so different from what you previously wanted. Hopefully you and your girls will be happy with what you choose!
ddubzz: I totally hear you about my BMs opinions. At this point, I know what they like and what works for them, though they have not yet seen this dress. Honestly, I think I may have made a mistake by trying too hard to please them. Ultimately, I know they will be perfectly fine with whatever I choose, so its more about - is this what I envision? I feel like if I hadn't seen a couple other dresses I loved, I would feel like its perfect...
cinema: My budget is $150. I am just wary of Etsy because even though it is made to their measurements, the style / cut could not look right on them for whatever reason, not to mention it could not turn out how I hoped.
Thanks for the link, but I have already scoured Nordstrom, and the Internet as a whole, it feels like! I think I may be sticking with the Jim Hjelm dress.
july: I missed ya! You're the one that found the Carol Hannah dress, right? You made a good point that the dress I eventually picked is different from the more detailed designs I was tending toward, but I have been going back and forth about whether a more detailed style would look too trendy and be dated in photos. Part of me was leaning towards something simple and classic, more like the Aria dress.
awww thanks =)! Ya I did find it. I can see what youre saying about a detailed dress being dated. I was worrying about that when I was picking out a wedding dress, but the sales consultant brought up a good point. You should go with what you truely want now because in 20 years everything is going to be dated. That is not necessarily a bad thing, look how many people are going for the vintage look. With that said I think you cant go wrong with a jim helm dress, they are always pretty! Also what im coming to realize is pick something you are happy with and dont stress over it too much. But trust me Im in the same boat with you!
I googled this. Maybe it will help.

Aww sorry...I didn't mean that the Jim Hjelm wasn't cute...it is! And I tooottally understand being drained from the looking process. My 13-year old sister will be one of my bridesmaids so pretty much every dress is not modest enough for my mom :)
Like july said, I basically just thought the newest dress was considerably less detailed than those other two, but if you've been considering something simpler anyway, it would make a great dress. Good luck deciding!
That Ann Taylor dress is very cute! But not the right color :(

Some of you may already know the saga my hunt for bridesmaids dresses has been. I have been searching for plum, tea length, affordable, non-revealing, summery/daytime but not too casual dresses. Let's recap:
Dress #1: This was my first choice, but it was too low cut. My maids have big bosoms.
Dress #2: This dress was kind of dumpy and too casual.
Dress #3: This dress was definitely a contender, but it was expensive and would have required serious alterations.
Dress #4: This dress didn't come in a large enough size for one of my BMs, to my heartbreak.
Dress #5: This dress was a lot like #4 and awesome because its by Carol Hannah from Project Runway (thanks to the board bee who found it for me!) but it was really super expensive and we couldn't see it in person first. (She doesn't have it up anymore for some reason but here is her website.)
So, after five potential dresses that haven't worked out, I found a dress at the shop I got my wedding dress at that I am pretty happy with. It's Jim Hjelm and looks kind of like this one, but instead of strapless it will have straps with a scoop neck. It will be solid aubergine.
I really like it, but looking back at some of the previous choices, like #1 and #4, I wonder if am settling. Still, I am REALLY ready to be done with this.
Thoughts?
